Pain in the mons pubis (pubic area)

I have suddenly started to have pain on the right side of my pubic area. It started to feel like a pinch, but is getting slightly worse. It's been 3 weeks since my surgery, and nothing has gone right. I am starting to worry about this, and was wondering if anyone else has had the symptoms.

Re: Pain in the mons pubis (pubic area)

Hi Karmalital,
I too have that same issue, mine is on the left side and has been present since the surgery. 90% of my surgery pain has disappeared already except for this. I am only day 13 of recovery but was really concerned about it. I had my first post-op appt this past Friday for staple removal etc. I asked the doc about it because it seemed the more I did the more it hurt. He said that a nerve may have been severed or pinched in surgery. He offered no suggestions as what to do so I have treating this myself. It seems not to be getting any better and am calling his office first thing in the morning.
I have tried the ibuprofen to help relieve some possible swelling that might be pinching on it. That didn't work. Pain meds do not work on nerve pain-not at least the ones they sent me home with. The only things that I have found that help is as soon as it starts to hurt, I sit down for about 10-15 minutes. I have to do that MANY times throughout the day. If I don't the pain is more intense and covers a larger area. I also sit with a heating pad set on the lowest setting on the area and that seems to help.
I wish you all the best. And hope someone can give you some answers. If I can get any out of the doc tomorrow I will post his response.

Re: Pain in the mons pubis (pubic area)

Gabapentin / Neurontin is commonly prescribed for nerve pain. The trick for managing side effects is to increase dosage slowly.

Good luck

Re: Pain in the mons pubis (pubic area)

Hi Karm,
I spoke with the nurses at the doc's office today and explained to her all that I was feeling. She called the doc and he said he wanted me to come in for a Lidocaine shot that should help. The only problem is that the earliest they could see me is 3 weeks away!! I tried explaining to the scheduling secretary the situation but had no success. So tomorrow I am going to my family doctor in the morning to see if they can do it for me. I am sure it will be less expensive. Good luck!I hope you can get some relief soon.
