How are you doing AFTER the TVT sling mesh removal?

Has anyone had the TVT sling mesh explanted because of severe pain and other complications? If so, I would appreciate hearing your story. I am scheduled to have mine removed in March and wanted to learn what to expect during post op, and how long it took to feel better or somewhat normal. Also, was the SUI repaired with another method, if so what type. I just would appreciate any info you can share with me/us.

Thank you in advance!

Re: How are you doing AFTER the TVT sling mesh removal?

I had a large anterior bladder sling explanted and then had anterior colporrhaphy using stitches only to help hold things up. I have done well with that repair in the past nearly 4 years since that surgery.

Since I had other repairs done at the same time, I was told to take things VERY easy after this surgery. Removing mesh is not pleasant and your tissues need to heal. My doctor gave me 6 weeks of basic 'down time'. I was told to lift nothing heavier than the TV remote for the first 10 days to 2 weeks and not to drive. Keep in mind that was my 4th GYN surgery and 3rd removal surgery in 2 years at the time.

My 'lifting' limits were gradually increased to about 25 pounds for life. That's a good amount for me. I can still pick up everything I need to and I'm good with that.

Be sure to ask your doctor if s/he has any particular restrictions for you. Many women are told 2 weeks of no work (some are longer depending on the repairs).

Hope all goes well!
