adenocarcinoma of the cervix

Hi. A couple of weeks ago there was a thread on cervical adenocarcinom (which I had). I seem to recall that someone mentioned that there is some evidence that it may be linked to hormones produced when pregnant (my baby was 7 mos when I was diagnosed, and I think the person who mentioned it was diagnosed immediately after her delivery). Does anyone know what the citation for this is, or where this information is coming from? I'm asking because I remember my pathologist mentioning that she had seen an article on that topic, but she has moved, and I'm interested in finding out more about that. My main reason for trying to get that info is that I am on HRT as my ovaries stopped functioning after TAH, radiation, and chemo, and I'm looking into natural HRT. But I want to be sure that I don't take anything that might be related/contribute to this type of cancer. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'd sure appreciate any information that you have.

Thanks, and be well all.

Jackie

adenocarcinoma of the cervix

Hi Jackie,
I had adenocarcinoma of the cervix (stage 1b). I have no kids. I have never been pregnant. I haven't heard what you're referring to, but not having kids that doesn't surprise me. We probably shouldn't look for a reason that this happens to us, but we do anyway. It's probably just a way to try to cope. I personally feel that becoming sexually active before age 18 and especially starting BC pills at 16 and staying on them for severaly years may have contributed to my developing cancer. The truth is, I'll never know for sure. There are cancers in my family tree, but sometimes it just happens. Even non-smokers can get lung cancer. I guess I'm just saying not to try to put any blame on yourself or your pregnancy for what has happened to you.

I'm glad you're on the road to recovery! surgimenopause.com is a great site in regards to NHRT. There is information out there that shows that NRHT may help prevent some cancer that HRT may cause. There is still so much research that needs to be done, but it looks good. Sites like this are good because we "princesses" have needs that women going through natural menopause do not. So research, research, research, then make your own decision. You may decide to stay on HRT, as many women do, but when you see both sides, you can truly make a choice that works for you. Also, go to the hormone jungle. Lots of opinions and testimonies there from both sides.

Good luck!

adenocarcinoma of the cervix

Hi there jackie, I too looked for reasons when diagnosed with my cancer. I was given smoking ( never smoked in my life) , so who knows but we are now on the road to recovery

I dont know alot about HRT or NHRT but when I first went into instant menopause after my ovaries were fried , I didnt want to take it because I thought there may be a link to cancer. After a week of hot flushes I went to a specialist who deals in this and he put me onto some bio-identical hrt. The best thing to do is visit the HORMONE JUNGLE the girls over there know all about it and will be able to help you I'm sure.
Best of luck with it all and keep on thinking positive . x x x
