3 Months post op- Cant do anything?

Hi Ladies- Here I sit hugging my belly- cant stand up straight...am not sure if this is normal or not? Im 3 months 1 week post op TAH. All I did was pull some weeds out of my garden this morning for 30 minutes. Sat around all day doing nothing. Tonight I drug 4 garden hoses around the yard to water my flowers. Now my belly is more numb and swollen and sore than it was yesterday
I have been thinking that I was over the worst of this surgery but everyday that I try something new-it seems to knock me back down :<...is anyone else going thru this? Or is this weird? At 3 months- I should be able to spend a few minutes gardening- shouldnt I?
Thanks

Ahhh, you've got the worst luck. {{AT}}

Actually, if this is an increase in activity, yes, it's normal. It kept happening to me. In fact, I got it bad at five months. I took a trip. Carried my heavy suitcase through the airport plus a heavy carry on (in fact, the airline attached a HEAVY tag to my suitcase ) I got to where I was going and the dragons :dragon: met me at the gate.

So just rest and take it easy for a couple days. It should be better. If it isn't, then maybe you did something more, but I'm almost positive that for once this is a short-term, eventually solved problem for you.

Analyze,

My surgery was the same day as yours. Although I haven't had any real post-op problems, I have some of those same problems you're having. "ONE" of these days I will learn - do you think?

I think I finally have it figured out. It's not exercising, and it's not walking that does it. It is the LIFTING or PULLING that is the biggest culprit. Even bringing in the groceries can bring this feeling on for me. I, too, have been pulling some weeds this week and sure enough, I have felt it. I'm sure you only compounded the irritation by pulling the hose all over your yard.

I think this is the part everyone keeps telling us about that takes a year to get over. I think we need to learn to be patient. I know it is frustrating; it seems after this amount of time, we should be "all back to normal". They aren't kidding when they say it takes a long time to heal on the inside!

Learn to take it easier,

Thanks Ladies I guess I'm just a slow-healer. I see the gyno on the 20th..so if it keeps up- I'll ask -just to be sure. She wasnt going to see me til Sept. but my mom had an appt with her June 20th and she swapped appointments with me. Boy will my gyno be surprised when I walk in! I get the funniest feeling that she doesnt want to see me again so soon! At my 6 week- she said-"see ya in 6 months.."
I agree- it DOES seem to be the pulling that gets me. Actually- I have had more active days than today- have been remodeling a rental house that I own..hauled out old carpet and everything...Yesterday- I unloaded an entire pickup truck load of brush with a few hard jerks on the bottom of the pile and it all came out. Things just hit me harder today...I'll be more patient..

Dearest AT,
Your surg was just a little ahead of me. All in all, I've been doing pretty good. I have a pretty physical job and there are some days when I do things that I regret later. It's like my belly will "pout" or throw a temper tantrum; give me some jabs or cramps and stick out and want to stay there for a while.
I've started taking yoga classes to help strengthen and destress. We'll just see how I do. I already feel much more peaceful after class and sleep really deeply. Maybe this would be something you'd be interested in persuing? I hope there are some other ladies who might have some input about this too.
Only best wishes for you.

Analyze,

I'm not a doctor, but you know, I'll BET this might have something to do with your "all over abdominal pain" that you're having!! Take it easy, will ya???

3 Months post op- Cant do anything?

AT,

First of all, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I am almost 3 months post-op and I still get swelly belly after activity of any kind, and I have numbness as well. Most times it happens during work and when I get home. I even have swelly belly now just hangin' at the DSO's house. So sounds like it's normal -- unfortunately for us, huh?

Hang in there... it'll get better before you know it!

Good luck!

Wow again...I feel normal! At five months I still get sore and swollen!..esp. after gardening!!! Lifting...Pulling...
the dreaded garden hose will get me every time! Once again I was starting to worry that I'm not healing normally..and you ladies have eased my mind. Guess it WILL take the "six months to a year" the Doc said it would. God Bless you all
