Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 21-Feb 27,2011
Well here I am 1 week out. I was feeling pretty proud of myself yesterday, no pain medication taken went for a short walk outside with my hubby. Then insomnia and allergic reaction to my steri strips and a trip to the bathroom that left me feeling like I have urethaitis. Back to my dear doc this afternoon no UTI and hydrocortisone cream. My Dr. Says its a.red head thing we bleed alot and have fussy skin. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. Your all amazing and it has been a pleasure to be able to share this experience with others.
TAKE CARE, Raela

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 21-Feb 27,2011
What a surprise I had! The colpo said CIN 2/3, but.....
Went to hospital at 11:30 Thursday. DaVinci surgery was started around 3 and ended around 9! Doc found Stage IA (clinical) cervical cancer in opening of cervix. Total surgery time was just under 6 hours, because she had to stop and consult with family on whether they wanted to follow her recommendations, and then get cleaned up again. My hubby delayed her by grillling her and really stressed out my mom, who definitely wanted to do it. So, they had to agree before she would do it. (I made my mom the "decider" but it still dragged out for awhile.) Such drama!
So she took some surrounding pelvic tissue and lymph nodes as a precaution and to avoid future surgeries.
Ovaries were ok, so she pulled them up to the hip area just in case radiation is needed so they will be less harmed.
Hospital afterwards was stressful with bloodwork and vitals checks throughout the night. So much for sleep! Then in the morning they took out the catheter and made me walk around even though I was in terrible pain. I wish the nurses could have kept my pain meds going on time, it makes a big difference.
Couldn't urinate enough so they inserted another catheter around 1 am and was finally discharged around 2am Saturday.
Home is defintely better! I finally get a chance to rest and relax. My mom is staying with me for about 10 days to help out. She is the best! I am so grateful for her tlc and support.
Monday has been the best day so far. The pain is lessening and I have more mobility. Also getting catheter out tomorrow, yay!
Getting final pathology test results this coming Friday with fingers crossed.
Every day gets better. Thank you all for your support!

sorry to hear about the rough times. Today is day 4 and just went bm for the first time in 4 days, but I have been taking miralax, dulcolax and stool softners like crazy. Today was the first day to pee without having to contort my body, the cath really messed me up. The pain is more muscle now and been keeping ice on it. On Hydrocodon and motrin. I have been having the worst hot flashes,I mean sweating sitting down, I have a small fan next to me all the time. It is getting better though. Hope everyone hangs in there.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 21-Feb 27,2011
Had LSH Feb 24..So far I am doing ok besides the headaches I get periodicaly.. I had only my uterus removed.. Not taking alot of pain killers because of stomache issues.. Tried laying in my bed on my side but that didn't feel so good so the recliner it is till I feel better.. All in all I am doing ok.. I think it's gonna take me a little longer to heal then the unrealistic week or so. I can't wait for a good nights rest with no pain..

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 21-Feb 27,2011
Hi lovely ladies! now 11 days post op, TAH/PFR, still haven't been out of the house, as unable to be on my feet too long. I still have a lot of bruising at my belly button from the laparoscopy? anyone else have this?
Started HRT immediately and so far so good, but weeping at soppy stuff, even 'Supernanny' on TV??
Anyway, it's great to hear other stories, and not feel alone, I am off work for 6 weeks, but quite fed up at the moment, due to pain, I can't concentrate on anything too long, and still sleeping 2/3 times a day. Frustrating, but hopefully all worth it.
Take care all
Lil xx

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 21-Feb 27,2011
sorry to hear you'r still having pain, sleepy and all. On 2-22 had a TLH 14 hours after already having a TVH. No bruising, but pelvic pain that almost sent me to the hospital last night. Was hoping by day 11 all would be good, but now I see from you might not be. Husband and Oldest daughter want me to go to the ER today still, but It is 1 hour from our home and I would rather deal with the pain a little longer.
Keep you chin up. Hope all will clear up for you soon.
I'm sending Prayers and healing you'r way.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 21-Feb 27,2011
 Ladies
Don't forget to check out the hysterectomy checkpoints
For the less invasive surgiers you may find you are a bit ahead of the weeks listed but the information is solid no matter what type of surgery you had.
Everyone is still in early recovery so give yourself a bit of time.
Remember it is a marathon not a sprint.

I actually slept in my bed last night YAY.. on my side with lots of pillows.. it hurt a little bit but felt so good compared to the recliner.. Pain was there and a faint headache but meds took care of it..Recovering pretty good thus far, my three little incisions are healing quite nicely..Moving around way better and even made my own breakfast this morning... Hugs to all the hyster sisters out there!
