endometrial carcinoma

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to take care of two children in diapers after I have a hysterectomy? They have to be picked up and separated a lot (I have one child who is autistic) and I don't have anyone who could stay and help for more than a week. I am more worried about that then the cancer at this point. Help!

Hi. I am the mother of a very active 3 year old. When I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July all I could think about was my son, so many doctors visits, hospital stays and well needed time for myself. I relied on family and friends for a little sitting but my saving grace was preschool. I am very lucky to have a terrific school by my house. I spoke to the owner/teacher and she said she would help with whateever I needed. In fact, he was able to go to school full time for three weeks after my tah/bso. My husband would drive him on his way to work and pick him up on his way home. I hated putting him in school for such a long day but there was no way around it. He even thrived. Good luck to you. I hope you can find something. p.s. It's worth the money. I think it cost us about $250.00, it's alot but well spent.

My children are grown (thanks to GOD) and I have only myself to care for now. My heart was moved by your post though, and the concern for your babies. Yes, of course, they need to be held, but perhaps there is a way to have them near you on your bed, or on a blanket on the floor (one at a time). Can they also have separate play pens for their own protection? Or pen off a corner of the room where they can sleep/play on blankets and pillows on the floor. That way you can go in there with them when you feel up to it without having to lift them.

Please ask others for help - your church (or any church) may send over people, and you can ask them to pick up your babies and play with them. Let your neighbors know how much a short visit to play with the babies would mean to you. You may be surprised at how people really want to help if they KNOW that you want it. Don't be shy or prideful about it. Tell everyone that your babies and you need the help. God bless you, Good Mother. You and your little ones are in my prayers. Love, Xena
