I just wanted to introduce myself really quick. I have met a few of you from the *other side* and figured since I am 3 days post I should come on over....... I am Susan and I had my TVH/hernia repair/cysto & rectocele repair/bladder neck sling just this last tuesday. I came home on Thursday and other than the gas I am doing pretty well... I have been reading posts and I cant wait to get to know more of you better....

Welcome Aboard Susan!!! We are all here to answer any and all questions you may have regarding your surgery. We are just like one big happy family here in the Land Of Hyster!!!! We are looking forward to knowing you better, too. Now, step away from the computer, or I'll have to call the pillow police, and get to bed. Rest, with your feet up, and drink lots of non-carbonated beverages. Take frequent short walks. Watch the dust settle (it will always be there for you) and enjoy being pampered.

Wishing you all th best,
Rita

Thank you all so much for the great welcome..... and all the great advice...... I will admit that taking it easy and resting are not easy things for me to do, being that I am a very active person. I have over the last 2 years lost 82 pounds (3 more to go) and I excersize A LOT... (nothing doing since surgery of course) So keeping these feet up is a challenge LOL, BUT I AM doing it. Short bits of activity is helping me from getting stiff and sore, and I attribute the activity to my level of recovery to this point. I am doing really good..... I went Saturday for a walk to the end of my street (about 10 houses) and back and then yesterday I made it around a short block. I think today I will do that same walk... Thank you for the words of wisdom on carbonated drinks, I do not drink milk any longer and I drink a lot of the Clear American drinks the Walmart sells, but havent felt like having any till now, and was wondering about carbonation...... PHEW. I will stick with the juices, tea and plain water.... I had a real bad bout with gas p/o days 2, 3 & 4 and dont want to do anything to bring that back....... Good news is that I have survived the first and second BM's. That alone was supreme That had me scared to heck. Thanks for all the encouragment to take it easy, I *feel* like I should be doing more and such...... I need you to help keep me in check......I am getting a little pampering, but of course more would be nice. My dh isnt the best at pampering, but he is getting a passing grade so far.......the kids have been most helpful especially my 15 1/2 y/o. My mom comes over everynight to help with dinner, and that is really nice...... I go tomorrow to see the urologist and he will take out the staples that I have from the incision above the pubic bone from the work on the bladder sling..... My GYN said if I am seeing that Dr he didnt necessarily need to see me as well..... SO..... How long before it is safe to get back into the pool? I do aquasize 3-4 nights a week and was just kinda trying to determine about when I might be able to resume.... I am thinking after the first of the year at least......Anyway... I dont want to sound like a militant non rester, I am not at all... I just know that I need to be moving a little more each day.... I am not doing any lifting at all, I get help for that..... I have turned to regular tylenol when I need something, so thats a good thing....... Taking my antibiotic and stool softener religiously, and as soon as I get over that fear of further constipation I will resume my multivits . Ok well I have bebbled on enuf... Thanks for having me here, I love that there is a special place for all Sisters.......

Hi Susan, Just wanted to welcome you to post op. Glad to hear you are feeling good. I wanted to jump in on the question you had about the pool. Make sure that you check with the doctor about that one. Many of us were not allowed to take baths, (showers were fine) because of the risk of water getting into the vagina. (You know, that nothing in the vagina rule, it includes water). So check and make sure with your doctors. They know what was done and when it might be safe for you. You don't want to risk an infection now that you are feeling so good. I walked everyday (with my Doctor's blessings) and I think that really helped me in my recovery. I had a very easy time. But I was a very good princess. Somedays that's tough to do, but I made sure I was. Good luck in your healing and pop back in anytime.
