tinnitus? DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

I am thinking out loud here and wonder if anyone has any input about the subject of tinnitus. I first had it after my TAH almost 4 yrs ago. It went away after a few months never to have again up until June. I know it can be caused from many things, low estrogen, hypothyroidism, stress/anxiety, hormonal imbalance. Here is what i am thinking now. My estrogen is at a good level (200), my thyroid is now in normal range, I am not stressed or as anxious as i was before and seeing a accupuncturist, BUT I do not supplement with Progesterone yet as i have been waiting for my Estrogen to get in normal range and feel better, my tsh to be in normal range... So.. I am thinking, has anyone else had the tinnitus and found that it was Progesterone that needed to be added and not just a higher level of estrogen? ANY help sooo appreciated!!!!

Re: tinnitus? DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

Have you gone to an ear Dr. to check it out, because my Dr. told me there is no cure and once you got it , it is always with you. I've had tinnitus for over 20yrs. I got mine from a head injury and some days is worse then other days, sometimes it depends on the weather. Good Luck, I hope yours is not permenant like mine is. It sucks.

Re: tinnitus? DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

thanks I did go, he felt i had some hearing loss, but how the heck do u take a hearing test with high pitched ringing in your ears? lol. I find mine gets worse with salt, sugar and stress. ugh.... i am hoping it will get better with the accupuncture or something. Same here...some days it is better, not too bad at all (always there) but other days it is so loud! As if I dont have ENOUGH problems!!!

ii know my tinnitis got really loud/bad qwhen I gotoff the patch cold turkey and switched to biest. I took biest for 4 days and then went back to the patch. maybe had to do with the estrogen for me--it was too low. once back on the patch it improved alot. still there a little bit but not excruciatingly loud like it was on biest

Re: tinnitus? DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

Hi Ladies,
my brother has tinnitus too..which he got after a nasty mid ear virus..he is trying a natural tablet called Tenneboim I think..he believes it is helping to quieten the inner noise. I also have it but mine only really bothers me at night when its quiet..I have been taking a drug to relieve vulvar pain which flared up badly 6 months after my hysterectomy. Beyond helping with the pain it has also quietened the inner noise as it has an effect on the nervous system..its called doxapine. Maybe you can ask your doctor about it..I only take a very low dose and as it is a sedative it has also cured by menopausal insomnia big time! Don't know if this info has helped or not...

Re: tinnitus? DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

I have the same problem with ringing in the ears. Usually it is a sign that I need to apply another dose of estrogel and that helps. I have recently added progesterone and that has not not made any difference. I was looking at the older posts about tinnitus (below) and some of the suggestions have been B complex vitamins and earcare products available at CVS and Walmart. I am going to give those a try. Please let me know if you hear of anything else that works.

Re: tinnitus? DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

Mine correlates with low estrogen. Once the level is back up, the whooshing in the ears or tinnitus is no longer noticeable.
