rib pain

Had robotic surgery 2 weeks ago & experiencing rib pain right under breasts, also hurts to breathe a bit. Is this due to position during surgery (do they really invert you?) Also felt as if my back was quite bruised day after surgery. Anyone else had rib pain? Thanks

Re: rib pain

Consta -

You are in a trendelenburg position which is at about a 45 degree angle.

The pain you are feeling under your ribs could be from the gas that is used to inflate your abdomen. You can talk to your Dr about this and see what they recommend. I believe that some may have tried Gas-X.

rib pain

Yes I had the same and like TL said it's from the surgery. Gas x works really well with and all other gases. Try it. I took two at first and then the next day one in the morning and at the evening.
Wish you best of healing.

BTW TL you're the best

Re: rib pain

You are probably feeling the gas they used to blow you up to operate. It takes a while to get it out of your system. I just took a lot of small slow walks to try to get it out of there. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: rib pain

Word of warning, *I HOPE it is the gas!* BUT! If you were intubated during your op, your dr should listen to your lungs... 10 weeks post op, I have pneumonia. Better safe than sorry. The only symptom I have is a very slight tight feeling under my right ribcage. (well, that, the blood work and the CT). Just make sure a dr listens to your lungs.... I saw 4 before one did!
