I too was afraid the Ginger Ale would add to the gas problem, but it really did help by allowing me to produce BIG burps. I also tried Sprite but did not have results.

Came home at 12:30 today. I am tired, not alot of sleep yesteray/last night but hoping tonite to get a good night sleep. Did alot of deep breaths and used the little sugery thing to blow in, havent had any issue with gas.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 07-Mar 13,2011

Hi to all,
I had a TAH during a vaginal prolapse surgery. My bladder was dropping so bad that I felt like I had to pee ALL the time. It was miserable. And since the uterus was sitting on the dropped bladder, I as advised to have it out too. I have been in menopause for a few years, so

The pre-surgery was easy. Nurse just put in an IV and put the leg pump things on my legs. Then they wheeled me into surgery. I woke up as they were moving me into my room. I do not remember the recovery room. I was SO out of it that I couldn't carry on a conversation with my mom and husband. But I do remember how much pain I was in. They gave me a morphine pump to relief the pain, but I kept going to sleep and so I didn't push the button. I was also very sick at my stomach and throw up later that evening even though I had anti-nausea meds and patch.

My surgery was at 11:30 AM and I starting feeling better (not so sick and in pain) around 1:30 AM the following day.

From that point on, I started getting better with the pain and had little nausea. However, this morning I started running a low grade fever, so now I am on antibiotics for 10 days.

The worst part in the hospital and now that I am home is that I cannot get up from the bed or chair without a hurtful burning sensation at my incision site.. I am not sure how long this will last, but it is the one thing I want to go away. Otherwise, I feel pretty good and am eating normally.

I had read 8 pages of forums (from this site) two days before surgery and was SO glad I did, because during the hopsital, all my things were a true comfort. This website is a life saver in giving good info.

So, I am now taking vicadin for the pain and zantac for my stonmach.

Looking for a better tomorrow. Glad to be home!

Hi All,

I love seeing how others are doing and of course seeing the progress. I came home today and have been in bed. I wish that I could have a bm but other than that, as long as I stay current on my pain meds and rest, I am doing pretty well.

The binder is a LIFESAVER. I love it and it is helping me as I am a side sleeper. I am also trying the heating pad to try to move things along. . .really hoping it works.

Thinking of everyone out there.

HUGS

You will do great! Remember that getting up and walking will make you feel better. Start slowly and take it easy but in the long run it will help you feel better.

Good luck!

Hi had laproscopic thursday 530a. Two and half hour surgery. Everything went well. Home by 4p and to bed. Pain meds wore off around ten pm and the fun began. The gas pain and not being able to move
with pulling incisions is the most aggravating. No problems with anasteasia except for nausea. Plus due to a throat surgery few years ago problems putting in tube. Horrible pain in throat.

Had a good day yesterday today is day 3 from surgery and i hurt today. Don't think i did anything to cause pain yesterday but have not had a bowel movement yet, released some gas but nothing else. Wondering if i sould take a stool softner? I know that percocet can cause constapation and they have me taking 2 every 4 hours for pain. Any advice?

Hi all.
First timer posting here. In Thursday 3/10 for 530a laproscopic supracervical hysterectomy. Problems with the IV insertion blood everywhere and my blood pressure spiked. 2 1/2 hr surgery. Don't remember anything. Due to a throat surgery two years ago there are always problems with breathing tube. Horrible sore throat. But to the good news home by 4p after doing walking and using bathroom I ran..ok I was rolled out if hospital for my home/bed. Didn't sleep well due to pain in incision sites and gas pain. Thank god for my mom and friends help. Here's to hoping for a less painfree day.

I am glad so many of us are home being papered. I managed to have a bm today and even showered and shaved. That alone made me feel 100 times better. I am not doing anything for the rest of the day because I don't want to overdo it. My dh has been wonderful and it makes me love him even more.
