Wow -- I'm happy to see someone else was lucky enough to have DaVinci! You are going to be SO amazed at how better you feel in a few days. The 1st two days were on-and-off painful, and medication was highly needed, especially for gas pains. Gas-x in combination with the other pills is very helpful. After that, it's been a quick uphill into feeling great! Today (Saturday, 6th recovery day) has been my best day -- I feel just about 100%. (Surgery was finished 1pm Monday and I am 45 yr old) I even took an hour walk outdoors today. Energy levels until now have been low or swinging all over the place, but I seem steady on for the moment. No pain to speak of except on and off lower back pain.

I am so impressed with this DaVinci procedure. Some of the other women are having such a harder time and I wish everyone had been able to do this. The doc said I would probably be able to drive at 7 days and he's right -- I could start driving today.

It's been such a relief after all I have read that it's going to be much easier than I imagined!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 07-Mar 13,2011

I had the DaVinci hysterectomy on Tuesday 3/8. I had been having a lot of pelvic pain and horrendous cycles. My doctor did see a fibroid on an ultrasound a week and a half before my surgery (he got me in really fast). When he talked to me after surgery, he told me that the fibroid was larger than a softball (like a large grapefruit). He was even surprised at its size. Since surgery I have been feeling pretty good. Which kind of surprises me since I have fibromyalgia. BTW, the tips on this site for patients with fibromyalgia really helped me! All my doctors were great about doing anything that would help minimize a flare of my fibro. I am so glad I had this done! I already feel way better than I did pre-op! I don't think I realized how poorly I was feeling before, but now that the adhesions and fibroid are out of there I feel really good! I am actually going a little stir crazy!!! I am still taking it easy, but am starting to get antsy. I pray that I continue to feel this good next week and can start to get back to my normal life. Thanks for all the advice and support! This site has been a huge help to me! Happy healing everyone!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 07-Mar 13,2011

I too had the DaVinci on the 8th. I have 6 spots for the tools that have all brusied and are now starting to itch, which is a good sign. The day of surgery i felt great and could not believe that i had surgery. The 2nd day they sent me home and i was a little sore from getting in and out of the car. the 3rd day i felt great and had a small BM that was loose. Day 4 i felt like a Mac Truck hit me, could not stand up straight, gas pains were unbelievable, and i could not pass any of the gas. Today is day 5 and i made it a point to get out of the house and walk around the stores and then after dinner i took gas x and took another walk in hopes that the gas will finally leave. The gas has settled high and it hurts to take deap breaths and bend over. Hoping tomarrow will be better. the one good thing is that i am only taking one percocet every 4 hours instead of 2 and i am not sleeping most of the day away. Hope everyone has a good night and things are better tomarrow

Today is Day 4 and I feel horrible. I look like a purple pin cushion, bloated, slept poorly, just can't get ahead.

Glad to hear some of you are doing well

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 07-Mar 13,2011

Hey all!

I had my TAH on March 7th and came home on the 9th. For some reason the recovery room nurse gave me two cups of pudding a half hour after I woke up in PACU1 and I have never felt so horrible in my life! My doctor wrote clear liquids only, so I have no idea why she would do that! Of course I was barely "in there". I've been nauseated ever since (off and on) and I'm convinced it is either the Ibuprofen or the Vicodin, or both! I've experimented with skipping either/or, but still end up nauseated no matter which I take, and miserable. I am also still in pain. I finally had a bowel movement today (twice!) so I am THRILLED with that!

Does anyone else have problems with eating? My appetite is gone, and I have to force myself to eat something so that my meds don't make me sick!

Ahhh.... I think I'm in the right place now. Posted in the wrong thread a while ago.
Just home from the hospital last night. When the Morphine from hospital wore off, I was in terrible pain and started having muscle spasms. Doc said this was normal, but these spasms were all along my right side torso to my shoulder and neck. It was awful and I couldn't move, Has anyone else experienced tis sort of thing post-op??

ToadalChaos - I also experienced a lack of appetite for the first few weeks of recovery. Have no fear, it comes back.

psmoore - I am glad you found the right thread. I hope someone comes along with an experience similar to yours. I never had spasms, just a few pains from gas that was trapped up in my shoulders. Walking and burping helped those.
