HRT- 5 yrs later and found breast lump

Hi all,
It has been a while since i have posted in here so a little background would be... I had an LAVH in Jan 06' and have been on HRT since. This is what worries me...
In December I found a lump in my right breast about the 9 o'clock position. It has not changed so went to gyn and they sent me for a mammogram and ultrasound.
They said the mammogram showed nothing but the ultrasound showed the mass. They are sending me to the breast health specialist next week.
The nurse at the specialists office called and said not to worry because they are pretty sure it is just a lymph node. They said that they will do an evaluation and schedule a follow up in 6 months.
Here is my worry... Why would the lymph node be so swollen for 3 months when i haven't been ill? Should I request a biopsy when i go?

Re: HRT- 5 yrs later and found breast lump

If your gut is telling you that there is a potential problem in your body, YES, by all means request a biopsy. An enlarged lymph node could be an infection, and most breast lumps, I think it's 80-85%, are b9, but you will sleep much better if you know that your lump has been biopsied.
I'm not quite sure how they can tell you that they would evaluate and see you in 6 months when you don't have a definitive dx.
Good luck, and don't stop until you are comfortable with the answers!

Re: HRT- 5 yrs later and found breast lump

Went to the breast health specialist... I really like this dr. He was very thourough and went through and explained all the images from mamogram and ultrasound. Then when he did an exam he found another enlarged lymph node further up under my armpit. He said that one was larger than the other but still of no concern. He said to check them 1-2 a month and i go back to him in 4 months. He was very confident that they were innocent lymph nodes and his confidence made me confident...
