Scared - 4 weeks since ablation pain worse
Doc convinced me to try the ablation and cancel hysterectomy date. My pain is so much worse. No fever, minimal discharge but burning shooting thigh pain, back, pelvic just about everywhere. Tummy feels very bloated too. Has anyone experienced this? Found a new doctor and scheduled to meet on Wednesday. Old doctor says he didn't feel pain is due to adenomoyosis even though it shows on MRI. Knew then I needed to see a new doctor. Tired and weary. Thanks for listening, Pat

Re: Scared - 4 weeks since ablation pain worse
I am so sorry you are having a difficult time, but glad you got yourself a new Dr. I did not have an ablation, but have read many posts from women for whom this procedure failed. My pathology revealed Adenomyosis, and my Dr. said,"No wonder, that could explain all of the pain." We sisters here can relate.
What were the original reasons your Dr. scheduled you for the Hyster?
Love to know what the new Dr. has to say. Hand in there and keep us posted.
Sending hugs

Re: Scared - 4 weeks since ablation pain worse
Thanks for the reply. He scheduled the hysterectomy for heavy bleeding and pain. He told me that if he could stop the the pain would take care of itself but he couldn't be 100%. I did a lot of research and told him I felt it was adeno and he said you can't believe what you read. The bleeding has stopped for now but my pain is constant now. It is the hot burning sensation that js the worse and when I told him he said it doesn't make sense. I'm barley making through a 8 hour work day. I come home eat, take a couple pain pills and lay on the couch with my heating pad. When I moving and on my feet my pain is worse.

Re: Scared - 4 weeks since ablation pain worse
Hi Pat! Sorry to read you are in pain. The Sisters here will support you, as they supported me. I also had an ablation, but my problems didn't start for quite awhile compared to you. I also parted ways with my 1st doc, which in and of itself was upsetting and stressful for me.
What is really most important is that you find a new Doctor that you like, who will help you get started on the path to healing and a return to normalcy. I had my hyst (I think) almost 11 weeks ago, and I've had a few set backs, but I am feeling so much better now and I am so glad that I had my hyst and it is behind me. I wish you the very best and I hope you find a solution to the pain really soon!

Re: Scared - 4 weeks since ablation pain worse
I had the pain you are describing. It is worse than labor. At least it was for me. Pain shooting in my upper thigh, abdominal cramping and back pain. The first time I had this pain was OCT 09 then it went away after 2 weeks, but had every sonogram/test possible done and nothing was found. Happened again Feb 10 and lasted a month. My OBGYN thought it could be IC (intercystial cystitis) But I told him I was sure it was not the problem. He even tested me and it was negative, but he still said it could be that. Well, it went away again and did not return until Jan of this year. I went to ER twice with unbearable pain that lasted up to 8 hours constantly. I went to OBGYN and said take out my uterus. He agreed with my reasearch on internet that my symptoms matched Adenomyosis. Well, At my 6wk follow-up from my LAVH on Feb 2, 2011 I did have Adenomyosis. My uterus was 4 times larger than normal. I feel great now! I too had an ablation 3 years ago for heavy bleeding. Hope you feel better soon.

Scared - 4 weeks since ablation pain worse
Thank you for your reply. The thigh and back pain are the worse. I meet with the new surgeon Saturday. Today was a bad pain day and ended up in the ER and I couldn't make it to work. You and all the sisters on the site are what has kept me going. Thank you.

Re: Scared - 4 weeks since ablation pain worse
I am 2 weeks post op for a hyst. I had an ablation about 5 years ago which did help with heavy bleeding, but did not get rid of my periods altogether. Over the past few years I have been having painful cramps, back pain and thigh pain that was getting worse. And my periods were every 3 weeks instead of 4. I finally said take it out! So far so good.
I would be worried if my pain was constant and not cyclic. And I didn't understand the thigh pain, but it sounds like it was related. What I never had was hot pain like you are describing. I definately would find a new doctor and see if something didn't go wrong with the ablation. Then...take it out!
