"poured out like a faucet" is not good. I would call you dr and let them know, especially about the clots.

I'm 10 days post op and last night after urination I wiped and had bright red blood. Since surgery I have only had some discoloration and nothing else so this bright red blood shocked and surprised me. I haven't had anymore so I think everything is fine. But it came right after a sneezing session of me sneezing about 10 times in a row. It scared me.

I had something similar happen. I rushed to the hospital and they were like "oh that's nothing." Everything looked normal and all my blood work was ok. The next day it stopped completely. About a week later I started spotting again. Now it's off and on between kinda red and brown. My doctor told me it was just the stitches dissolving. So I guess I just wait till it finally stops completely. I just wish it would hurry!

Re: Started bleeding for the first time 2 weeks after hysterectomy. Is this normal?

I have intermittent brown spotting, after having some bleeding and pink discharge for awhile. My doctor said the brown spotting/pink discharge can last as long as 12 weeks, even longer for some women. Did have an infection, which was cleared up with flagyl.

As an aside, I know it says here that if you've kept your cervix, mini periods can occur. Well, I can say if you're having anything heavier than spotting, it is NOT normal and you should consult your doctor about this. It means some of the uterine lining was left behind or the stump cervix wasn't cauterized correctly during surgery. I met a woman who had continued periods after her hyster (lighter, but enough to soak a few pads a day for three days straight) she kept her cervix and her doctor didn't help her at all. She went to a new gyn, who went and cauterized what was left behind. No more periods after that.
