Blood clot in leg?

Hi just a question... have any of you had one after your hysto? I had a TVH 3 weeks ago today and This morning I noticed a line on the calf of my leg. As the day went on it got a bit warm, Now the line isn't there and the swelling went down a bit , but the area is still quite warm.

I'm hoping I'm just crazy and imagining it. I'm going to go to bed and wake up and it'll be gone ( tehehe!). It's really not that bad, and it doesn't hurt. I'd feel dumb calling the Dr. If it wasn't. Any input ladies?

Blood clot in leg?

Tiffy, Call the doctor as soon as you read this.....don't wait, and more importantly don't rub the area at all. If it is a blood clot, you could cause a piece of it to break loose and travel.

I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot 3 weeks post op. I didn't have many of the symptoms associated with a clot, so I wasn't sure. My only symptoms were low grade fever and pain in the leg.

If you can't get to see your dr., go to the ER. They can tell if it's a clot by doing an ultra sound of the leg. Please call now, as this can be a life threatening situation if it's not treated. Let us know what the doctor says.

(Don't feel dumb calling the dr. In this case it's better to err on the side of caution.)

Best wishes,

This can be life threatening

If you haven't called your dr or been to the ER yet please do so. My husband, a nurse and paramedic, told me a co-worker of his had his wife develop a blood clot after a hysterectomy. She ended up in ICU for awhile near death. These can travel up to the lungs cauing a pulmonary embolism or up to the brain causing a stroke. This is nothing to mess around with. There are medications they can give you to dissolve the clot and prevent it from turning into life threatening. Besides if the leg does feel better when you wake up, how do you know the clot didn't just move up to another area of your body.

Blood clot in leg?

Yes, Tiffy,
Head straight for the ER. Signs of a blood clot in the leg are calf pain when walking, pain in the calf if you straighten that leg and "pull your toes to your nose", warm red area w or w/out a streak, and leg swelling. All these signs don't have to be present. As pointed out above, this can be life threatening, so, not to scare you, but you need to go to the hospital. Good luck, let us know how things turn out!
