Post-op ovarian cyst--Help!!

I am 4 weeks post-op. My recovery was going great until I noticed a sharp pain in my left side a few days ago. Saw my dr, had an ultrasound yesterday, and a 7-1/2 cm cyst was discovered on my remaining ovary!!

My dr advises to wait & see if it will go away (yeah, like the one on the right did before my hyst). I'm supposed to see her in 2 weeks and have another ultra in 4. I'm still in a lot of pain, but mostly really scared as to what this may mean. I'm afraid I'll need another surgery to remove the darn thing, and I don't know if it could be done laparscopically. I'm so depressed.

Has anyone had anything like this. Do they really just "go away"? I'm hoping that maybe with all the upheaval in there with the hyst that could be the cause. Even my dr was surprised at how big it was & how fast it grew. I kept the ovary because I can't take hormones due to blood clots.

Any advice or kind words would be appreciated. Can't believe this is happening, & I'm back to "waiting."

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Oh {{{{Pat}}} I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Here's a nice, big, gentle

I do not have personal experience with ovarian cysts, however I have read of them being removed laparascopically. It can even be done without removing the ovary. I guess that it is entirely possible that they may go away on their own.

It might be caused by the major up-heaval your body has just been through and your hormones might be going in overdrive from the surgery.

Have faith and hope that it will all resolve itself.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and sending cyber hugs and a healing your way.

Post-op ovarian cyst--Help!!

I did have an ovarian cyst years and years ago that hung around for two months and then went away. It was scary looking--looked like my ovary had a doorknob growing out of it. My doctor was in a hurry to remove it before his vacation but I insisted on a second opinion. By the time I got it, the cyst was gone. Poof!

So it does happen. I hope you luck out, too. People do have ovaries removed laparoscopically if it turns out yours has to go.
