Question - Bladder and vaginal prolapse with anal sphincter repair Bladder and vaginal prolapse with anal sphincter repair

Hi,

I am new to the site. Looking for information on my possibilities and what to expect from surgery. New Year's resolution to exercise and get in shape got me the prolapse. Exams by doctors found the anal sphincter problems. Apparently, my first two vaginal births caused some serious damage that has only gotten worse over the last 5 years. Had a 3rd child by C-section and then a hysterectomy 4 months later. Thought that would be my last surgery. 5 previous surgeries for Endo, cysts, adhesions.

So I am looking for information from anyone who has had the rectal sphincter repair. Would like to hear if it was worth it and hear some long term results. Didn't know I had the problem so not sure I want to go through the surgery. Yes, I have bowel issues but I have had them all my life. Going to go to a nutritionist to get my diet fixed. I know I have some food issues that irritate the bowel issues. Already cut out cow's milk as it causes too many problems.

Also going to try a pessary for the bladder/vaginal prolapse to get me through vacation before surgery. Anyone have some long term pessary use to let me know if they do or do not like it. Is it better than surgery?

I have young children and have done a lot of heavy lifting that has been part of the cause to all this as well as now they say I might have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Going to see a specialist to confirm that.

Any stories on positive results or negative would be helpful on making this decision. Like to hear from some recent surgeries for what the surgery is like now and from some older surgeries for how it is holding up years later.

Thanks so much for any replies!
