future worries.....

Blah! forgot to mention this in my other post (it's amazing the questions you can come up with when you think abut something  okay, so my question for our more experianced sisters is......after the healing is done will I ever have a flat stomach?? "hubby just saw it and said "you didn't have one before so why would you after" ...but seriously..I was talking to my SIL the other day and she said that I would never get rid of my "pooch" no matter how much I try because all those muscles have been cut (TAH) and will never flatten out even if I do 100 sit ups a day.....is this true? will I forever look like I'm "just beginning to show" or with excersice will I be able to get rid of the "pooch?
BTW I'm 2 weeks post-op today and feeling pretty good (probably overdoing)...I'm not tired at all and have stopped taking afternoon naps...Incision is healing nicely (except for a rupture I caused my first week...but Dr. said it will heal okay)..have been out to eat 3 times with DH and went to SILs for thanksgiving yesterday..I will admit though that after being out I am tired...not sleepy, just ready to sit and relax and not move! ) I really think it is going to take longer for me to heal emotionally than physically.

Kristin

future worries.....

I had a C-section 6 years ago and was able to work my stomach back into shape. It did take a while. I could not feel my abdominal muscles for at least 6 months. I think that it depends partly on the elasticity of your skin. Many women have droopy stomachs after childbirth which never return to normal because their skin is not elastic.

Good Luck!

Kristin,

You can get your tummy toned again with eating right and exercise, but just a caution: If you start with strenuous ab exercises too soon, you will only make the normal swelling worse. It's a good idea to start with walking as an exercise, and VERY gradually build up speed and distance in the early weeks and months. This is a safe way to burn fat all over and won't overly stress your tender healing tissues.

My very best to you...
