Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 18-Apr 24,2011
tired of being tired~ couldnt make the park trip with DH and kids after shower. I get lightheaded and weak on day 5. I guess its normal but not haivng the energy to make it to a park bench is depressing. I am one that likes to go so I hope its comes soon. I am not looking forward to the 40 minute drive to the doctor thursday because that might put me down for days! lol
hope I am not the only one feeling this way

I had my hysterectomy on April 22, at 1:30 pm and was discharged home at 2:00 on Saturday April 23. The only real pains I have had are in my shoulders, they can be completely breathtaking. I am told it is from the air they put into your abdomen to be able to see more clearly. A heating pad has help tremendously for this pain.
Otherwise I have not needed pain meds at all today. My husband heads back to work tomorrow. I am a little anxious about getting the kids up and off to school and being home with a little one all day.
Thank you for all of the pre-op info I have received from this site and from others with similar story as mine. The hardest part of the entire process for me was waiting one month to have the surgery.
Hope you are all healing well too!
Stephany

I have no bleeding either and was wondering the same. I am just hoping I am lucky. Feeling, I don't know, like I should be feeling something more. It's amazing how many Android apps look intriguing when I am too tired to do anything and can't focus anyway. The sun is good, and my dogs and the cat are good company.

got first decent nights sleep last night but feel tired still. still on meds taking them regually now so keeping any pain at bay, being good girl and drinking plenty water and having little walk morning and evening. only thing bothering me is that I have had no bleeding at all-is this normal? been reading threads and people say they all have, freinds all say don't knock it but I'm worring!
hope everyone is doing well

allenefloyd: I am not taking anything so I feel it all. I am sore and have some bruises. Its not bad but being lightheaded and weak with the littlest of things like a shower or walking outside to sit for awhile is the hard part. I have never been a person to nap and all I feel like is to nap and lay around afer walking alittle because I am so shaky. I never stay home more then a day either so the deisre to be out and doing things is killing me. I have not had pain with the gas that they use. I did have a procedure done with this in the 90's before having children so I was prepared for that more. JUST NEED ENERGY! dont feel right
I hope you get better soon!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 18-Apr 24,2011
Day five here. I had an absolute no-sleep night last night, despite finally giving in and taking a Percocet. Maybe it makes me awake?? I was very comfy and pain-free, just not sleeping.
So today am very tired. Had to go to doctor than back home and that wore me out. Had a nap and feel worse now--headachey and lethargic.
Overall feelings: Tender, bruised, delicate. It aches to pee. My privates feel as though I recently gave birth and they are stretched and sore. Still some lingering gas pains. On a bright note, I have lost some pounds and my tummy is the smallest it's been in years. Hope it lasts. And I was able to get pants on today to go see the doc--my skinny jeans, even. They were too tight to keep on, but I did put them on out of curiosity and was able to zip. Wore my fat pants to the doc, and huge flannel pajamas at home.
Main complaint so far: Massively painful movements through my bowels when a bowel movement is on the way. Oh my goodness it hurts SO BAD. I see stars, get faint, feel like I might throw up. The spasms and pain go on and on and ON. Once I have the bowel movement, I'm fine again---for about twelve hours until the next one gets ready. I could really do without THAT. And if it's this bad with stool softeners, then I guess I'm not ready to off them yet? Yikes.

No bleeding here at all. EXTREMELY tired (day 7 post-op) but it may be due to pneumonia. No problems w/ BM, still on stool softners. Tummy starting to show signs of bruising but not swollen too much ( I am thin, only weight 112).
Main complainants would have to be the pneumonia, tiredness and NO APPETITE!!!!!
Last week at this time I was just leaving recovery room!! Hope all are well and healing fine

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 18-Apr 24,2011
Ladies, your body being tired is due to it trying to heal from the trauma of surgery. It takes a lot of energy to heal so you don't have a lot left over for doing other things. Your energy will come back, just listen to your body. When you get tired, rest and don't try to push through it. You had MAJOR surgery, whether you had an incision(s) or not. You have had an organ removed so your body is trying to recover from that.
Someone asked about not bleeding. That is perfectly normal too. I had a very slight pink discharge for a few days and that was it. Other ladies will have more of a discharge for weeks. It depends on what was done and how your body is healing. However, if you are soaking a pad an hour, that is the time to call your doctor. Don't fool around with that one and let your doctor know ASAP.
I see some ladies enquiring about exercise. You need to ask your doctor about that. Most ladies on here have been told by their doctor that the only exercise allowed is walking. My doctor was the same. He was quite concerned about my walking because I normally do 10 to 12 km each day. He says to take it easy and go around the block once and build up from there. He looked at me funny when I said around the block was one kilometer but then said to listen to my body and take it easy. I did around the block 4 days post op and was moving like a snail. I found that I could walk one day and then needed to take a break for the next couple of days. It wasn't till almost 6 weeks post-op that I went back to my regular routine. So long story short, don't push the exercise till your doctor says it is okay and it will take time for your body to be able to have enough energy to both heal and do exercise.
Happy healing!
