Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 09-May 15,2011

I feel like such a ***** or a dummy. After talking with the nurse yesterday and her saying I need to see Doc, I'm afraid to go to work because I'd be walking and I don't want the bleeding to start again and I still feel more thanthe occasional twinge from all the work activity on monday. So Day 2 at home on my 4th weekaversary. Now I'm feeling down and out.

Hey don't feel like your alone, I'm on 4th week and one day I feel ok and the next day, I'm so tired you would think I had ran a marathon. I will be glad when the Good days start outweighing the bad.

4th week and apart from swelly belly everything seems to be ok. feeling less tired and driving short distances, even had a bit of a boogie this morning! I have had no menopausal symptoms....yet! Bm's are more regular now than before the op which can't be a bad thing! Ive stopped taking iron tabs so less constipated. Went to hairdressers today to have hair done and she couldnt believe I was walking normally(well nearly) and looked so good which was nice to hear.
Its going to feel so weird going back to work, I'm getting used to being a lady of leisure!!

Just got back from the endocrinologist. Interesting appointment. He looked over my labs I had done at the ER and said point blank that he did not believe it's thyroid, but PCOS gone amuck and Vit D deficiency. He's put me on 2,000 mg of metformin and 5,000 mg of Vit D and will see me back (with complete bloodwork) in September to see where things are. He didn't want to do bloodwork now in case things are still wonky from surgery, but it just surprised me how he listened to my symptoms and was so committed to the diagnosis without detailed labs. He said I'm "textbook". So, we'll see where this little journey takes me. The more I think about it, the more I wish we'd gone ahead and taken the ovaries. That's my one big regret right now.

I'm taking it easier today as yesterday was a bit much, what with painting and supervising furniture moving. Tomorrow is a furniture shopping day at Ikea, so LOTS of walking (and meatballs for lunch!) I need to conserve my energy.

Other than fatigue and insomnia, I'm feeling pretty good. I haven't had any bleeding at all, no spotting NOTHING since they took the packing out after surgery, which still blows my mind. It's been YEARS since I haven't had to wear some kind of protection. I get some little tugs and pulls in my belly now and then, but no major pain. My walking pace is still sloooowwww, though.

(((sisters)))

Here are the post op checkpoint weeks 5 &6. The second tab on that page is for "Appointment." It has some really good information that you'll want to look over for your 6 week appt with your doctor.

I can't believe it's already going on 6 weeks!!! Just a quick heads up, once we hit the 8 week mark, this thread will move over to the Hystersister Club House under the date club.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 09-May 15,2011

I took the Stilnox quite a few years back and found that I would sleep for a few hours then be wide awake !!

I have been taking Dozile this time .... it is an over the counter sleep aid and contains Doxylamin Succinate which is a calmative. I found it helped a lot ... once I fall asleep I sleep a lot deeper and although I still wake up through the night (whenever I roll over) I find I can go back to sleep easy enough. Went without them last night and managed to sleep almost through the night so I think that I wont be taking them anymore :-)

These over the counter pills have done more for me than any sleeping tablets in the past !! (I am a long term insomniac and have tried all sorts)
