Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 09-May 15,2011

well, made the phone call this morning to work and am getting a laptop sent home with some work to keep me occupied for the last two weeks of my leave. I ran out of sick pay as of yesterday so am happy to do what I can from home to earn some cash - and it will mean I can ease myself back into the whole "work" thing. I told him this morning that I have a brain made of spam .... will see how I go on Monday !

Otherwise, I am feeling FABULOUS ... pretty much back to normal apart from the whole sleep thing. No pain at night but CANNOT fall asleep. When I do finally sleep I wake up around every hour. But cant really complain as other than that - no problems!

Ikea = Overdoing It.

I didn't do any lifting just lots of assembly. Worn out, but 15yos room is looking nice.

Id hoped to return to work on short weeks (using vacation 1 day/wk), but my boss said today that we are having a major shakeup in the department and I'm needed to work a 930pm-6am shift for awhile. The other 2 3rd shifters never get their schedules messed with. I'm the only one with kids, I'm a single mom and I homeschool, so we have a fairly precise schedule that the wonky hours don't work for. I'm hoping the doc will put me on a 4 day restriction so I can ease back in, esp if they are messing with my times.

Had to go back to dr today because I have a bladder infection. This is not surprising since my bladder had to be cut off my uterus which it was completely attached to. A urologist got it off but its been giving me trouble and pain since. Besides the gas pain, the bladder has been the most painful part of this surgery. So now add cipro to my seemingly neverending inventory of meds. Other than that I can't complain. Mostly twinges and little soreness. Still swollen of course. Dr said there's lots of bruising from the retractors and stitches all over the place. Why do they put stitches inside?
She keeps checking my cuff and that still hurts. I wonder why it takes so long to heal?
Got some sleep issues too. I fall asleep fine but wake up at 4:30 am and then toss and turn nonstop till 8:00!
Id say I'm a good 50% up on house work. The rest my kids do. I could get used to this!

I made it thru the day with little pain and spotting. Drove home, took off my clothes, petted the kitties and we crawled into bed and went to sleep. Just woke up, ate some yogurt and pretzels and will be back in bed shortly. Wearing a skirt really helped swelly belly. Tomorrow is jeans day ... Not for me. I accomplished my goal of making thru the day!!

"Phantom Ovary Pain". Isn't that like the cramp-like twinges we've been feeling? I've had a headache today too. Glad tomorrow is Friday. Wish I had help just to clean my critters cage/box.

I'm here, I'm alive - thanks for the PM reminder to check in.

I'm sorry to hear about your bladder infection. I hope your discomfort will ease.

I've had family in town since 5/27, which was Day 2 of my 2nd trip to the castle. They just left yesterday, and we had a great visit. I am glad to get my house back, but I did too much trying to catch up on chores.

My wound is still healing. On 6/8 was given a vac pump that will speed up healing, but it's a little clunky to carry around all the time. Feel lots of twinges in my abdomen but dont know what's hyster healing and what is wound. Finally finished antibiotics but had the bonus pleasure of a yeast infection. Doc called in a scrip, and hopefully that'll be gone soon. Slowly getting back into walking but still have good days and bad days.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 09-May 15,2011

Hello all. Glad to hear so many of you are doing well/better. Today we are celebrating because this is the first day with no pain! No twinges, nothing! I hope I don't backslide. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks - TAH on May 6- and that is the day I can start driving. Also, see OBGYN on Monday and hope to get the go ahead for more. DH took me to dinner today and then bookstore and a movie. It felt good getting out. Then when we got home, went for a walk outside. We didn't go too far, only about 1/2 way around block but since pre-surgery I use walker and wheelchair sometimes, (use was not for female probs) this was a good thing. Have a good Friday everyone!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 09-May 15,2011

Hi Freo,
Same Same! I feel fabulous today however still suffering with insomnia. The Stilnox didnt work so GP wrote me a script for Mogadon. I have never heard of this but done a bit of reading tonight. I hope I dont suffer the giddiness and grogginess likes the brochures state?

Has anyone ever heard of Mogadon? I havent!

My work-related issues and stress are starting to be addressed by the necessary people so things are looking better! Time will tell!

Hope everyone is well. This long weekend will be spent packing and shifting things from my house....well I wont be lifting anything of course....but will be supervising the men! LOL

Cheers!

Still have migraines and insomnia. It 5:16 am. My right leg still hurts since few days after surgery. Overall I feel I am back to myself. Twinges where my overies once where from time to time. But over all I am getting there! I start natural hrt tomorrow. Looking forward to that. Dr sent me to compound pharmacy to get it. Have heard great things about it. I think I should have done this in winter, then I would have been naturally warm Haha! Best wishes to all. I've made it 4 weeks and 4 days. On the countdown now for week 6! I'm a bit nervous though about the first sexual intercourse. Fear it will hurt. Anyone else have these fears?
