Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011

Hi, ladies!

All I can say is that I am sooo hot. The loss of ovaries and post menopause is kicking in big time. Since I can't take estrogen cos of the type of breast cancer 2 years ago, I will have to suck it up. I had the worst sleep last night - took forever to go to sleep, finally did and woke up an hour later...why? cos I was soo hot. Had a zillion hot flashes during the night and woke up in a pool of sweat.

I still am getting a lot of gas pains, and It seems like other people who got the davinci robot surgery are walking WAY more than me. I am going to try walking longer distances next week. Every time I walk more I get a nagging dull ache in my vaj-jay-jay. Is anyone else getting that???

Sorry the menopause symptoms are hitting you so bad.

I'm still waiting for that to hit me. So far I'm just freezing most of the time.

I'm getting the vaginal aches too after walking - kind of feels like things aren't well hooked up in there - I'm afraid of everything falling out!

It is a long progress and you will have days like this. Just know that there is improvement each day. Someone advised me to compare my "day" not to my best day but to my first day after surgery. That helped me to put those not so wonderful days into perspective. You can expect to continue to have ups and downs but soon the ups will outweigh the downs. For me my conquest today was a painless BM. Wow! I had almost given up on the hope of that every happening again. Allow yourself to take the time to heal. And give yourself time. Hope you feel better soon. I know you will. cheryl

Post Op 5/16/11 A Week and a day.
Last night I was scared because I had a pinkish color when wiping.
Emotional I cried on my pillow.
This morning I had a... clump... of pink stuff when wiping.
I'm hoping this stuff is normal and nothing to worry about.
My pain is fine during the day but when I lay down at night;
that is when I need ibuprofen!

I like caraab's advice - comparing days to the first day out of surgery. Today is better than yesterday for me, and is one week after TAH. Too rainy to walk much outside, so walking around the house.

Not experiencing too much menopause symptoms yet, unsure if it will hit hard soon. Woke a few times with sweats, so this could be the start.

Congrats on those who are getting BMs - I know how that can make a big difference once everything starts moving again.

Well, today is day 4 for me - had a TAH - everything is gone - no ovaries = nothing! I'm kinda waiting for the hot flashes... not yet.? I had them on lupron... but I'm not complaining.. I am sleeping thru most of the night. I actually had 2 BM's today... I'm not taking any kind of stool softener se was worried - but my MIL brought mcdonalds bfast sandwiches over which I never eat... and after eating one I had to practically run to the bathroom!! I walked outside today just in the garden.. not far at all... and now I am home alone.. took a shower and feeling pretty good.. my incision is burning a little.. I'm lucky that it is nice and quiet around here.. I like others mentioned have no desire to talk on the phone.. I'm just not in the mood... my incision is "seeping" a little.. it has dermabond on it... I guess this is normal?

I don't know if that is normal or not. When in doubt, call your doc - that is what they are there for. At least you can put your mind at ease if it is to be expected. You can also check out the post-op 1-2 week listings on this web site. I know they talked about discharges and what may occur.

I'm home from hospital. I have a wound infection and a secondary skin infection. The dr had to open my incision again, irrigate, disinfect it and then he packed it full of gauze (blech!). I am going to have daily nursing coming to the house to change the gauze until it is healed. I am so discouraged.

Pamelady, I went in the same day you did and I just experienced the pinkish discharge this morning. Also I have been in pain for 2 days. Could you let me know if you find out if it's normal or not? thanks

sounds like you are describing mine exactaly...lol, how are you doing today the 24th?
