Thanks Cheryl,
That advice really helped - comparing to the first day after surgery. I'm feeling much better the past couple days. How are you doing?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Belove.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd give myself an 8 today. It is so nice. I 'm almost afraid to say I may be over that BM challenge. My energy is returning and I went shopping today for several hours and no kick back yet. I've worn my regular pants the last two days and did okay with them. I cooked dinner last night all by myself but let DH do the dishes. Tomorrow will be my 3 week-aversary. When I put it in that perspective it is amazing how far I have progressed. I hope you are doing well also. Watch out for week 2-3. It threw me for a loop (pain and bleeding) I guess when the stitches start dissolving etc. it makes for more pain and possible spotting and bleeding. I didn't realize that until I got there. Take it easy. Aren't we so lucky that our pathologies came back clean? That is the most marvelous thing of all!!!

Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Well, went to my gyn/onc appt and had blood and urine tests, and he checked all my internal and external incisions. Apparently I have a hematoma inside which is fairly common. He was pretty concerned about the continual low grade fevers so I started some antibiotics. Guess better to be safe than sorry. I also have been having strange menstrual-like cramping and rectal pain. Still only alternating between ibuprofen 600mg and tylenol every 6 hours - helps manage the pain and the fevers. The MD spot and trip there completely wiped me out. I had no energy or appetite for dinner. Whew..... off to try and get some zzzz's. I feel like I should wear water wings to bed considering the pool I'm swimming in the AM! :-) Sleep well ladies!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Hi there well I am now at Day 11 and doing ok. I feel lighter overall, but the stabbing pain with gas still catches me unawares. My swelling seems to be less but is quite hard to touch. I feel gravity pulling when I am walking or turning in bed. Today I tried singing- and even that was tiring on the abdominals- pity because I love this and it helps my mood. I am limiting my visitor requests to one per day. That way I don't get too tired and also I get to have a great 1:1 conversation with that person. So far this week it has been great to do just that. Bit down in the dumps as I had to relinquish my much sort after theatre tickets which I have had for over6 months. The thought of going into the city, being squished in the theatre crowd and having to line up at the ladies loo was all too much. a dear friend will go in my place and I could not wish on a nicer person. there will be another opportunity I am sure!! Plus in the scheme of things this is just one of the little things that you have to let go of. I haven't had any pain meds now for almost a week, but the hot pack for my already dodgy back is keeping me comfortable. I love being able to visit the site to hear how everyone is doing. So thanks ladies. xx

My doctor called me last night to tell me that everything (uterus, cervix, ovaries) sent to pathology came back benign! I knew last week that the areas they were most concerned about were benign...now I know it all is benign! Yeah!!!!!!!
I am doing more each day. I am a runner and I am missing running big time. I do have some down moments but I keep saying to myself "but its not cancer"
How is everyone else doing?

I am so glad you wrote that last line. That is what I keeping reminding myself in the darker moments when I am feeling frustrated because I have dropped something on the floor for the umpteenth time- or I can't reach something and have to wait for DH to come home. All in all I am counting my blessings.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
My girls and I are moving this weekend. Not sure if I can handle the restrictions on me when I see everyone else working and I can't lift a finger!
I had a second bm today and frankly, it felt wonderful!!! . The things we rejoice about after surgery.... Lol.
So glad to hear that pathology report are coming in clear. Mine hasnt come back yet but I'm not expecting trouble.
Im still having joint pain, especially my hips. Any ideas on how to ease it?

Hello, I am 6 days post-op from having Supracervical Abdominal Hysterectomy. I went in for a Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy. So I am healing from 4 incisions now, pathology report showed adenomyosis. My pelvis area is swollen, and bruised. Hurts to urinate still, I am hope this is due to part of my bladder being removed. Doc. said it would hurt for a while. BM's are uncomfortable too. Slightly less pain today compared to yesterday. Hope for a better day tomorrow.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
I am on day 9 since my surgery and I had my staples taken out on day 7. The Dr. put on those "tape" strips that she said I should keep on for a WEEK! I am not super thin and the area above the incision rolls over the top and is still pretty swollen. I have gained about 6 - 7 lbs since my surgery!! I keep hoping that it will go back down but it hasn't happened yet. Yesterday about 24 hours after the "tape" was put on my belly to help hold my incision closed they fell off. I then went to clean the area well because the Dr. didn't even clean it before putting on the "tape"! When I pulled the cotton ball away I saw blood. So I got the mirror out to take a look and it appeared that part of my incision was OPEN. Maybe and inch or so and it was bleeding a little. I put a paper towel on it to try to stop the bleeding and because it was right around bedtime for me I was nervous but went to bed. I am a diabetic and heal very, very slowly and the Dr. apparently didn't think about that. She rushed through my appt. to take out my staples because she had an unscheduled surgery earlier in the day and had to bump my appt. to later. I feel like she didn't even listen to me at all and rushed through it without even really LOOKING at it! I noticed the night I came home with the tape that there was an area that looked like it was open! I had hoped that it would heal up on its own but so far it is only worse. I called the Dr first thing this morning and the nurse seemed concerned and left a message for the Dr. Then another nurse called back and said that the Dr. said I could go back in to get more "tape" put on ..which would likely only fall off again in a day..or if I think it is ok just leave it. Well if I thought it was ok I wouldn't have called in the first place!!! I suggested that she use the "super glue" that I know that they have used with great results on me before and the nurse said it was up to the Dr. because she is the surgeon. UGH!! I am so beyond frustrated! I am really hoping when I go in this afternoon that they don't rush me in and out yet again.
Last night before all of this I was in a bit of pain and my ankles were pretty swollen. I was really hoping that wouldn't happen but it has started. I had swelling problems before I went in for surgery ..in my ankles..and I was really hoping that this might help with that problem because I thought it was all part of my horrible cycles. I guess not.
Cross your fingers that something good happens today!
Greta
