rpi, I like the very accurate accu panic description!
Backtothegym, I'd say it's wonderful you are getting smaller and smaller. Hope your belly is feeling better, and Mares, you too.
Roxy, hope all's well at your house. Heather, I went back to school at 48, and was very nervous, too. It was a great experience for me, hope it is for you.

Well, went skiing this weekend for 2 days, and my friend lent me a pair of hot shot skis and suddenly I was arcing like an adolescent boy, so much fun!! Fell about 5 times (on a different pair of skis) none of them at speed, and all is well. Could barely move Sunday with my aching muscles, however I have a new goal, cardio and fitness for skiing!

Southborolas - I think that going back to school is a great idea! It will definitely give you a different challenge than just healing from surgery. We will be here to cheer you on...
Backtothegym - Glad you continue to loose weight - you are doing so well. You should be very proud of yourself. We all are...
Emely - Sounds as if you had a great time skiing. Now you need to find a hot tub...we will all join

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Happy Monday, ladies.
I had a nice relaxing weekend. Got caught up on household chores (cleaning, etc.) that had been ignored due to my work load. It felt good to just do some physical activities. Now, it is back to work. Hopefully this week will be less chaotic.
Hope all had a good weekend...

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Well, everything is settling down here on the husband being sick issue. Spent most of the weekend resting, except for some light shopping on Saturday. At least it doesn't seem that I will be catching what he had, which is a huge relief. I always feel that being sick is such a waste of valuable time and energy!
Emely: Glad to hear that you had a chance to be active in the snow and that you had such a great time. I can sympathize with the sore muscles. Not fun, but at least you had fun earning them!
Heather: Good for you for deciding to go back to school. I think you will be glad you did and it is a great idea to take focus off of recovering from surgery (and back pain issues) and to focus on learning new things!
Marestail: It's good that you got a chance to catch up on house chores and rest some from your busy work schedule. Hope it won't be so hectic for you this week!
rpi: Probably a wise idea to put off buying more pants until your weight stabilizes later on. That's really great that you have been able to continue to lose weight! Keep it up if you can!
Not much going on here. Everything in the way of snow is melting and the dogs want to go outside and play in the puddles! I am trying to catch up myself on home projects I have gotten behind in or have put off just because I didn't want to face them, like cleaning out closets and drawers. Sometimes I wonder if I hang onto things for sentimental reasons and that is why I hate going through things and deciding what to keep. My mother is a bit of a pack rat, so I can hear her voice nagging me not to get rid of things when I have gotten rid of things in the past. I have tried having yard sales, but then my mother comes over and sees all the things I am trying to sell and makes me feel guilty for it. Either that or she raids my sale and ends up taking so much of it home to her house. Kind of defeats the purpose!
Oh well, I guess that's not the biggest problem to have, but it still is annoying......Maybe I will plan to participate in the neighborhood yard sale this summer and conveniently forget to tell my mother!
Time to go do my yoga before it gets too late and I am too tired!

Mates, I did have a hot tub and it was terrific! A party is indeed in order. Wishing you a good week.
Roxy, your plight is exactly the opposite of mine - my mother would sell my personal things at her garage sales or just throw them out herself. I had to laugh when I read your post!

Roxy405 and Emely - Both sides of garage sales funny. When my sister's husband goes to visit his brother who lives overseas (in a place she has no desire to visit) she goes through his pack rat pile of clothes and spare junk and I mean junk in the garage and gets rid of piles of it. Amazingly he never notices when he gets back and we have a good laugh about it.
I have been keeping up with yoga (or yougurt) as I slip and called once or twice. Except for my bad knees I can do OK. There was a woman in my last class who was at least 400lbs! and she could bend like a pretzel so I figure there is hope for me.
Enjoy the weekend.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Ok backtothegym, I am feeling stronger just from a couple of weeks of effort, which is the great thing about exercise, no? I really went back to the gym for the first time since before surgery. (I have gone to about 5 yoga classes) Just a half hour on the ellipse and I was panting and sweating up a storm. Feels good to breathe deeply again. I did feel I had shallower breath after S, probably because of being so bed bound and the anesthesia. I am happy to have the goal of being fit for skiing. But also, I have another appt with the urogyno first week in Feb, and I am really trying to make sure that my pelvic floor stays nice and strong to prevent prolapse. Was reading on the Harvard medical site that Kegels can significantly reduce prolapse (we are all at greater risk b'cause of our procedures as you all probably know...) But they are not the only muscles to exercise there. Got a good book recommended by the pilates lady I saw - called Pelvic Power - its the "Franklin" method, named for the author. I am using these techniques daily.
My schedule ramps up even higher starting next week, but I am taking a drawing class, so I have official time carved out for myself, and it makes the prospect of packed weeks so much more palatable.
Cheers everyone

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Happy Saturday, ladies!
Work got busy again last week. This coming week is topsy turvy as I may be traveling, maybe not. Don't know yet. I hope not, because it would really be last minute and I would have to scramble.
Trying to keep everything low key this weekend again so no big plans.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011
Hi All!
The weather has been so mild here last weekend through this week that I've been taking advantage of it and have been out and about. The weekend was a whirlwind and before I knew it, it's back to the work week.
Emely - I think it's great that you're taking a drawing class. I did that last semester. I took a painting class. Like you said it's time that is officially carved out to do stuff. Sure I can paint at home but there are too many distractions. Hope you have fun.
I just got back this evening from babysitting my friend's 4 year old. I'd forgotten how much work that is! My son is 26 so it's been quite some time. Whew! I must say it is nice to be around them but then give them back! Well have a good evening everyone and have a good rest of the week!
