Im 24 and 5 months post op still in pain

I hope someone out there has some help to offer me. I had a partial hysterectomy when I was 23 because of chronic pelvic pain my doctor said the pain was caused by adenomyosis and the only option was surgury. Well Im still having the same pains as before I still have to take pain meds or I cant even get out of bed. I have been sent to so many doctors and know one seems to have any idea. I had an MRI done on my lower back and found that I have degenerative disk disease and was told that could be the problem Im haveing steriod shots on Thursday but I just dont understand the connection. I have pains that are like pressure shooting from one pelvic bone to another then down my legs its like constant cramping. My insurance has changed so many times that to keep the same doctor and have consitant care and tests have been impossible. Im at my whits end I am so young and live like an old women. Doctors all treat me as if Im just needing attention or something I even have problems with pharmisits filling prescriptions for me. Nobody seems to understand and I just dont know who to turn to. I have heard of something called a pelvic block if anyone else has heard of this please fill me in. I have to get my life started and just cant take anymore poking and proding. Please someone help me!

Hey there...

Did you have your ovaries removed as well? Were there any other diagnosises (is that EVEN a word?)? You might want to get your pathology reports and surgical reports from the hospital where your surgery was performed. They're real eye-openers! :eyes:

It could be MANY things. Degenerative disk disease is bad and painful and it can cause lower back pain...but you know your body. If it feels like something else, it probably is. You could have adhesions from a previous surgery, endometriosis (my nemesis), pelvic congestive disease, or anything...literally.

I'd start with the reports, then work from there. I have NOT had the pelvic block done. I have had my nerves severed and previously cut 2/3 the way thru to my pelvis to alleviate the pain. I know how you feel, hun.

At 20, I couldn't get out of bed w/o pain meds. I had one pharmacist REFUSE to fill my medication until they got a phone authorization from the doctor (it was because of my age and nothing more -- the doc later told me about it). You're NOT alone. There are literally thousands of us who suffer from chronic pelvic pain. check out...www.pelvicpain.org

Thank you for responding. I have a question. You said you had your nerves severed did that work? Compared to some of the women on this sight I am just starting my journey and since I have a horrible reaction to anesthisia I cant really do the trial and error so Im hoping as Im sure everyone is to find the quickest route to being pain free. I will take your advise on getting surgical records. And last no I did not have my overies removed I did have scar tissue on one of my overys but she says she cleaned them and wrapped them to avoid future scar tissue build up. Anyway thanks again!

Julie,

I completely understand being at your wits end. I have suffered with pelvic and bladder pain since my hysterectomy 2 years ago. It is very frustrating.

Since you kept your ovaries, it could possibly be that there is something going on with the ovaries. I would find a doctor that would take a look and see if that is what is causing the pain.

I wish you the best in finding a solution to all of your pain. s

I had severe leg cramps and it turned out that I had fibromyalgia. I would find a doctor to find the source of pain. Sometimes it takes alot of doctors to find out what's wrong. Go with your gut feelings because you know your pain better than any doctor. After my hyst I was still in pain and taking 2 percocets every 3-4 hours. My doctor ask me if I was just addicted to pain meds, I said no this pain is real. He sent me to a doctor that found out I had acid reflux erosion, hiatic hernia, and barretts syndrome. I'm still in pain 5 1/2 months after my hyst and now my doctor takes my pain seriously.

Adrite, what kind of doctor severed the nerves? Because, I have a trapped nerve that is causing alot of pain and my ob said I might have to have surgery. My endocrinologist gave me a name of a good pelvic pain doctor in Alabama. But, for me that's a long drive...I live in south Georgia. Can any ob doctor do it or do you need a specialist of some kind? I had the pharmacy call my doctor and ask him why he was giving me so much pain medicine. He told them pelvic pain and she is scheduled for a hyst. I felt like they thought I was some kind of drug addict. I wish these people could just have one day in pain the way we are and see if they have to take any pain meds. Now my doctor is hesitant to give me pain medicine. But, I'm like hello if you had a trapped nerve up yours you'd want something to relieve the pain. What is pelvic congestive disease?
