Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 13-Jun 19,2011
Hi all. It's been 3 days since the procedure (LAVH). Physically, I am still pretty sore and had my first BM. Thankfully, no constipation issues. Strangely enough, I woke up feeling a bit sad and now feeling "weepy". Anyone else feeling this way?

Home from Hospital on June 16th Surgery on Jun 13
Hi there... I am home from the Castle. Although, it wasn't the best service in the world. I was discharged a day after I thought because the doctor took the day off!!!
I have had other surgeries and I swell alot and take a while to pass gas. I had a TAH BSO. I was in the most pain the 2nd day and my incision is oozing... I stayed with a 99.0 to 99.8 the whole time. Nobody seemed to think it was an infection or anything serious.
I was walking around pretty well the day after but when the pain meds wore off that was not going to happen.
I am home... Still having trouble getting up and down.. but once I am up and walking it is fine.
Does anyone have numb thighs after the surgery.?? My thighs are still numb. They kept my stockings on for 2 1/2 days... I don't know if that did it or if it is the surgery.
Another patient had her TAH BSO , on the same day, that I made friends with in the hospital. It was nice to walk to each others rooms and ask how we were doing?
Glad this part is over. Some of you are bouncing back quicker than I am. That is awesome!!!!

It took me almost 48 hours to pass gas and and almost 72 hours for bowel movement.
Hang in there it will happen
My fever was not a problem either, I was worried but they just did not want it over 100.00.

My Doc just called, all biopsies were benign!!! Waiting for that news was the hardest as my mom lost the battle to uterine cancer and the fear was always there in the back of my mind that I might be facing the same battle.

Hi, it's been about a week since my surgery. I had a LVH. The surgery went great. I was home the next day. My only issue is with Gas, but I was prepared because of this site, I had my Gas X ready. Now after a week, the Gas is coming without pain. So far so good, just need to make sure I rest.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 13-Jun 19,2011
I am on day 4 and my back is SCREAMING with pain. I've had bm and all is fine there. Not sure if my back is supposed to be hurting this bad. It seems to be getting worse. I will call the doc on Monday if it continues throughout the weekend. Might just seem worse because I went this morning without any medications so I could have a clear head to do some math homework. Now that homework is done - ive taken a vicoden and I'm going to lie down a while. I'm not really having the fatigue that others are describing - but I have not really done much since I got home either. Was hoping to go shopping this weekend for some groceries but at this point that isn't looking likely.
Hope everyone else continues to heal and get better quickly.

I couldn't stop crying in the hospital. No idea why. But since I've been home - I have not had that same feeling.

I had a davinci TLH Thursday early morning. It couldn't have gone better, and I was treated very well at the castle. I didn't have as much problem with pain as I did nausea from the anesthesia. When I went to oral meds, things improved. I'm home in bed, resting, and pain is manageable. I do have a hematoma in my stomache. Dr. was not worried, but I am! hopefully, it will get better asap. Good luck everyone!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 13-Jun 19,2011
Hi, I was home from the castle on Tuesday My surgery was Monday around 9:30a and came home Tuesday around 10:00a had a rough night my first night the morphine was making me itch like crazy so they gave me benadryl in my IV and I woke up a few times gasping for air, so I called the nurse and told her I was itching again (the nursing supervisor came in and was soooo RUDE) She said well maybe if you weren't hitting your pain pump so much maybe you wouldn't itch, I'm like wow really, anyway I itched so bad I have broken skin all over my body. Also my heart rate kept jumping and my blood pressure dropping, I slept horrible the 1st night so I was ready to go home. I have done fine at home I just get tired very easily I keep falling asleep and I sleep hard. I have the swelly belly so I look preggo, and I'm weepy. The doctor said my uterus was boggy and he is 99% sure its adenmyosis (SP?) and we made a good decision, and for once I'm not in pain, just pain from the healing
