Newbie, Surgery Monday June 20 (children mentioned)

Hello everyone! Thought I'd post, as I can't sleep right now. This site has been a life saver! I went from nauseously upset to somewhat calm about my surgery on Monday. I keep telling myself that I'm more nervous about the anticipation and having been comparing it to a roller coaster, getting to the top of the hill is the worst part, it's all downhill from there! I have been battling various issues since the age of 19 (I am 26 now) it started with pre cancerous cells during a normal pap smear at the age of 19, I had a cone biopsy and D & C done which seemed to do some good for that condition.

Then in 2006, I got pregnant with my daughter, unexpectedly, after I was told from 19 that I would prob never have kids. I got pregnant on birth control (which was later recalled). My first ultrasound with her, the Dr. noticed that I had a fibroid on the outside of my uterus that was the same size as my daughter (I was 4 months pregnant at the time of ultrasound!) I gave birth to her and was given the option of a hyster at that point, I was 22 and couldn't bring myself to do it.

My husband and I continued to talk about having another baby, or not. If I could get pregnant, etc. I went to the Dr. after being in a car accident and found out I was pregnant again, with my son who is now 2.

I have since changed gyn and he's wonderful! He suggested several things before ever bringing up the only solution of being a hysterectomy. I received a new ultrasound and was finally told the size of my tumor (12cm) I was on Lupron for 6 months, it did stop the pain I was having during my monthly cycle, but did nothing for the fibroid, I wanted to try something first.

So we have decided to do a hyster scheduled for Monday after being scheduled 4 diff times. I have been well prepared for years for this, but I'm still so sick to my stomach. My 3 year old is very upset about me being gone to get my boo boo fixed. I know in the end this will be worth it, I'll be able to move around and be active with my children without feeling like I'm pregnant and sluggish, but the before seems like it's dragging so slowly.

I will end here, good luck to the fellow girls going in on June 20!

Chantal
