I'm not yet scheduled for my hysterectomy, I have my consult on Friday (1 July). I have already had an ablation, fibroid and cyst removal and a tubal ligation(all in one surgery).
Any how, I got my ultrasound report to take to my surgeon consult. I was reading it and it says I have a large fibroids(duh), cysts on my right ovary(i know), and an ovarian cyst with septations, on the left side. Has any one had this, and/or know what it is? It also said I had multiple cysts on my cervix. Any one had that, is it common, do they remove your cervix because of it?
Yes lol, lots of questions! But my Gyn didn't explain anything to me, just told me to get a copy of my report and she was referring me out. So any help, experience, etc would be greatly appreciated.
As I understand it, an ovarian cyst with separation means it is cyst that contains both cells and fluid, also known as a complex cyst. I hope your gyn is sending you to a gynecological oncologist (gyn/onc) surgeon. I don't want to scare you, but they are the best specialist to deal with this situation.
I also had an large ovarian complex cyst (12 x 9 x 11 cm) on my left ovary. A gyn/onc removed my cyst and did a TAH BSO. The cyst was removed first and tested for cancer while I was in the OR. It was benign. My uterus also had fibroides, those were tested, as well as all other tissues, after removal (uterus, cervix, tubes, ovaries). They were also benign. IF it had been malignant, then my gyn/onc would have checked what stage it was in. That is why it is so important to have this specialist do the surgery. They know what they are looking at.
Just so you know, most ovarian cysts are benign. Good luck to you. Healing thoughts and hugs...
Thanks, marestail. I'm supposed to consult with a group which has the surgeon that did my last surgeries and a gyn/onc. I pretty well knew that I have fibroids and have been poly-cystic for a while(ovaries). I have never been told til now that I have cysts on my cervix or about the cyst/septation. So I'm kinda freakin out a wee bit.
I can sure see that! I have not heard of cysts on a cervix either. My guess is they will want to remove your cervix along with the rest. My TAH BSO took my cervix, of course, and I did not have any cysts on my cervix. Good luck. Let us know what the doc says.
Well, I did my consult, and I will be having a hysterectomy. I have to do the CA125 and a uterine biopsy, just to make sure there's no cancer or precancer. Then I meet back with my Dr to set up a date for LAVH. They plan on taking my uterus and left ovary, and leaving me my right ovary and cervix.
Sounds like they have a plan. With the CA125, keep in mind that other benign tissues can through off the protein the test keys on. So, if you do have an elevated CA125 test result, it does not necessarily mean a malignancy. The uterine biopsy should be helpful, and would probably give clearer picture.
Good luck - I am sure you will be fine. Healing thoughts and hugs....
Thanks Marestail. They're just doing the tests as a precaution. As my Dr said, she doesn't want to get in there and have to possibly cut my uterus into pieces to take out, and not know if there were bad cells in there(and have exposed the rest of me to them).
Ok so this morning I woke up in the middle of a mini-panic attack. I think its because I did the CA125 yesterday. I'm not expecting anything, but I think its causing me to panic a little, cancer scares the crap outta me. Actually anything that makes me not in control of my body, scares the crap out of me. Go get the lab results on Friday. Hurry and get here, Friday....
