Recovery after a hysteroscopy, resection of fibroid and a d and c

Hi, I've just this week had a fibroid removed and a d and c, the gyn also put in a mirena coil. I've had the surgery because after a lifetime of heavy periods they became unbearable in march. They went on without a break and I was experiencing gushing. I felt like I was hemorrhaging and couldn't go to work. No sanitary protection would stop the bleeding from pouring down my legs.
After a camera was inserted they found a fibroid but also that the lining of my uterus was 18mm thicker than expected.
So after trying many meds and being on norithersterone (6tabs daily) to stop the bleeding I had the op.

My experience wasn't great but I had it done on the nhs so shouldn't expect much. I went into the op theatre where they put me out. When I woke I had bad cramps and was being wheeled back onto the ward. I was given a cup of tea and biscuit. I was still groggy and was lucky not to have burned myself. As I always do I promptly threw up (after effects of a general) then was allowed to go home, I was given a box of diclofenic and codydromol for pain. I walked to main entrance where my husband met me with the car.
I slept mostly on that dat (Monday) and had severe cramps not unlike contractions of the cervix I had those pains the next morning, and just spotting no major bleeding. I am hoping it stays that way. It is now thurs and apart from being bloated and constipated I'm feeling better just a little tender and hoping to return to work very soon. Has anyone else had this procedure? Was the outcome good?

Re: Recovery after a hysteroscopy, resection of fibroid and a d and c

I had a myocectomy with hysteroscopy and d and c in March to remove a fibroid but your procedure sounds like it was much worse than mine. Mine also was outpatient but I experienced no pain really and the surgery center I was at was wonderful. So sorry you had what sounds like a horrible experience. Hope you feel better soon!

thank you, I felt so much better this morning but after pottering around at home doing a bit of light housework, I now have quite bad period pains but not much bleeding, just spotting. Does anyone know how long I should expect for the pain to ease?

I saw my gp again today, as i'd passed more of this tissue like substance. He told me that it's where i have an infection, the antibiotics are working so hopefully I should be feeling much better in a few days
