are these symptoms menopausal?

Hi, I'm 10 weeks post op with no ovaries and feeling ok emotionally and get warmish at night but I'm having terrible sleep issues. I went back to work last week and I had unbroken sleep for 3 nights which made work a nightmare!
I suffer with anxiety anyway so worrying about sleeping is making me more anxious. Should I start HRT when I have no major symptoms? I'm off work now (I work in a school) and I thought sleeping would be ok... not worrying about sleeping because i could have a lie in, but I'm still having broken sleep

Re: are these symptoms menopausal?

Making the decision to use HRT can be a hard one to make. There is so much conflicting info out there to confuse anyone. Your Dr can help you make an informed decision.

Anxiety and sleep disturbances are common symptoms of menopause. Making the decision to use HRT can be a quality of life issue. Some women can tough it out while others absolutely can not function without HRT. I am one those who could not function without HRT ...even with one ovary. I had deep depression, anxiety, night sweats, mood swings, and insomnia.

Ten weeks is still early in your recovery and you can expect some fluctuations in hormones/symptoms for a while. Your body is using up your stored estrogen. That is why you are feeling different lately.

Sounds like you are doing pretty good! Hope you find a solution for the disrupted sleep.

Hi Prettyanxious

thanks for your advice, I didn't sleep well again last night but like i said I kept thinking 'I'm not going to sleep tonight' and I didn't! Thinking about it i am doing well. I'm going to a health shop later to see if i can get something to help me sleep. Hrt will be the very last resort.

mia

Try a natural supplement called Calm. It is a magnesium supplement that helps with sleep. I use it religiously. Works well. Good luck!!

Re: are these symptoms menopausal?

I too am trying to "tough it out" as a couple of weeks ago my GP suggested I don't have any HRT! I am finding I have aches and pains all over and a constant headache, I'm hoping this is just until my body gets used to not having Livial (which I took for 2 yrs, one year prior to hysterectomy and 1 year post hyst). But I had sleep problems throughout the time I was taking Livial so it didn't help me in that respect, although this is probably due to the fact that I have ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

Prettyanxious I've heard of Calms and will give them a go. Thanks for the recommendation.
