I have Fibromyalgia and I am wondering how recovery will be

If anyone out there has FM then you know how it is. Sometimes it is harder to get over things such as the flu or surgeries. I was wondering if anyone with Fibro has any advice on recovery after a hysterectomy.

Fish -

I can't directly help with you information on recovery when you have fibromyalgia but I know we have had members with this issue.

I don't know if any of them are currently active in posting so my recommendation is to use the Search feature and type in Fibromyalgia that will bring up past threads on the topic.

There are some post-op sisters who have fibromyalgia.

Not sure if they visit here, so maybe go read some posts on the post-op forum.

Good luck,

Re: I have Fibromyalgia and I am wondering how recovery will be

Hello

I have Fibromyalgia, CFS, slipped disc and few other illnesses and Im having my hysterectomy in january Im feeling the same , really worried about how I will feel after my op Im having the abdominal cut because my fibroid has swollen to a massive size that its the safest way for the doctor to operate on me... Im dreading the 5 days in hospital ( im taking in my own pillow ) and then hopefully I might be a little more comfy.. I get bored very quickly ...

Has the hospital told you to take you own pain meds into the hospital with you ? my doctor told me to take my morphine in with me, I told her I was really worried that the nurses wouldn't give me strong enough meds to cope with my pains afterwards ( Im using Butrans patches and morphine everyday at the mo ) for the constant pains from fibro and my stomache cramps..

When Is your op ?? If you have a favourite pillow take it with you to hospital and anything else that might help you be comfy...

Sending Gentle hugs

Re: I have Fibromyalgia and I am wondering how recovery will be

I have fibro also and am on the other side of the hysterectomy now. Had my surgery Monday, and although I had some complications during surgery and now have to go back to the dr this afternoon because I have a bad cold (hopefully that is all it is). But I am not having a lot of trouble with my fibro acting up, but then the pain pills could be masking that. I would just recommend that you take it slow, you know your body best and when the time comes do not over do it! Pamper yourself a lot and let your body heal.
