Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like they have seasonal hot flashes? It never fails, when it's warm or hot outside, I feel like someone lit a bonfire inside my body. Why don't I get hot flashes in the winter when it's 20 degrees out? I wonder if there's a scientific reason for this.
Anyways, just curious if anyone else gets seasonal hot flashes.
I have more trouble in the hot summer and only have problems in the winter if the thermostat is too high or I overdress.
The thermostat at the base of the brain the hypothalamos seems to be connected to estrogen and when this is low then the body reacts.
If estrogen is low or gone, such as when the ovaries are removed, this can cause blood vessels to dilate. The dilated blood vessels allow more blood to rush through the body. This sudden increase in blood flow brings with it more heat.
The cooler the weather or temperatures, the better we feel. I love winter here in Texas, but hate the summers.
My hot flashes began in the winter but seem to be getting worse as summer progresses. I'm interested to see if they continue to be as strong in the coming winter. I just purchased the chillow pillow and the soaker scarf and love both of them. Definitely recommend.
