Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 05-Sep 11,2011

My TAH was tues 9/6/11. Came home friday 9/9. Everyone says incision looks great. The nurses kept pushing me to walk, walk, walk, which I did, but I honestly felt like I was overdoing it because I would be miserable with exhaustion and trembling for hours afterward.

I'm home but havent had a BM, but i'm eating a vegetarian diet w/ minimal dairy so I dont feel bloated. My amazing husband is surprised at how mobile I am, but i'm discouraged by how limited, slow, and sore I am. He's exhausted already from trying to be awake to my every need those first couple nights, so i'm trying to find balance between what I can do myself and what I need help with.

Thank you to all you positive ladies who are seeing the bright side.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 05-Sep 11,2011

I had the davinci hysterectomy with RSO on September 8th at 7:40 a.m. I was in recovery at 11:50. The surgery was a bit long as I did have some adhesions and my right ovary was attached to some tissue and had to be scrapped off and cleaned up. I was in my room at 1:20 p.m. The care I received from Riverside Methodist Hospital was exceptional. I did not have much pain as I was being given Torodol. I did not take any pain killers. I did have to keep the catheter in until morning and it was such a relief to have it out! I came home yesterday at 11:00 so was in the hospital a little over 24 hours but in my room less than 24 hours. I had an excellent surgeon. Yesterday was a bit painful from the gas. My 5 tiny incisions are sore but manageable. I feel like I was punched a few good times in the tummy. I was able to pass a lot of the gas yesterday and am feeling better today. I have walked my wonderful Border Collie this morning (very slowly) and have eaten a bowl of cereal and feel pretty good. I will continue to post how I am doing as the next few days go by. I'm hoping all of my hyster sisters are resting and taking very good care of themselves post op.

Well its Day 4 post op now. Had to do the Dulcolax yesterday. Not pleasant but it got the job done. LOL. Today I'm finding I really don't have much of an appetite at all and just tired. Guess this is all normal

4 days post-op (LAVH/BSO). Doing great. Stopped taking pain pills yesterday afternoon and still very comfortable. Had bm yesterday morning--not a bad experience thanks to the stool softener. Went out to dinner last night and worked for about 2 hours in the afternoon. Hope all you ladies recover as well as I have...Hugs!

I had my surgery on Sept 8th and came home yesterday morning. I had vaginal hysterectomal and still have ovaries. I am doing well. Was taking percocet regularly but not needed today which is good because I am now feeling somewhat constipated even though I have also been taking stool softeners. My doctor has me off for 6 weeks; seems like a long time but I think I will use this time to rest and take care of me.

Well had my surgery yesterday. Trying to not take oxycodone just ibuprofen. So far so good. Have had a bm tried coffee and to two stool softeners but no luck. And suggestions. Gas pain is not fun taking gasx but I guess all in all it's been ok.

I'm having post nasal drip and coughing. That hurts. Otherwise things are going well. Took a Tylenol PM last night which really helped me sleep. Otherwise, I am not needing any pain meds.

I had my surgery on yesterday. It went well. Was weaned off PCA pump about an hour ago. Have walked in the hall once. Hope that everyone is recovering well.
