Re: September 9th surgeries...raise your hand.

We made it ,friends! I just got home from the hospital. I'm feeling quite good. The surgery went well and the meds help the pain and I'm glad to be home with my family. I've been praying for you all. I hope you are all doing well comfortable. Hugs!

I had TAH on sept 7 I was just released today because i was running a fever for some unknown reason. They ran a few tests but could not figure out why i was sick Yesterday i felt great i bathed, put on my own lounge clothes walked around the hospital and was feeling fine. I thought the catheter would be the most awful thing in the world but it wasnt. I could drink as much liqiud as i wanted and i didnt have to get up to pee 42 times in one night. I drank all the water i wanted and it was wonderful for a change not having to regulate yourself. Maybe since i drank so much liquid it flushed my system i didnt have any problems when they took it out. I tried to talk the doc into letting me leave on friday but she said no she wanted to be sure i was free of fever. Hope everyone has a speedy and rapid recovery the worst part is behind us now.

I learned my lesson with the nausea when i had my gallbladder surgery. I made sure I told the anesthesiologist that I get nauseated...he gave me something in my IV and also put a patch behind my ear. FYI, if anyone has to return to surgery be sure and tell them to give you something for nausea! It worked great.

I had the patch, and three additional nausea meds.. I am finally starting to feel a bit better. And of course now I am having horrible gas pains and bloating. Argh. I don't mean to complain, but I am ready having a tough time of it. I'm glad everyone else is having an easier time. I just can't get this pain under control. Frustrating.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 05-Sep 11,2011

Hello All. I had a partial, uterus and tubes removed only, Da Vinci hysterectomy and bladder lift on Wednesday afternoon. My doctor let me decide to keep or remove the cervix, after much confusion this forum helped me decide to keep my cervix. I had several large fibroids and enlarged uterus. The surgery lasted 3 hours. I was told that the uterus was the size of a melon. My experience was I remember entering the operating room and moving to a operating bed and then was told to breath from the mask. Out. I came to in the recovery room in alot of pain and voiced it and was put out again. I then came to in the hospital room with my husband and my mom sitting next to me. I did have discomfort and used the pain pump. On Thursday I had discomfort and mild vomiting. I was able to get up and walk which really helped and was able to have catheter removed....not painful as i thought it would be! Once I took a shower and had iv removed i began to feel like myself again. It is day 3 for me and can definitely move around better today and only feel bruised, not pain. Hope other HysterSister have a speedy recovery!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 05-Sep 11,2011

I'm sorry Sarah303 and Houston40 were so sick. Hugs! I hope it all passes very quickly!

I had my surgery yesterday at about 1PM. I was groggy with anesthesia all evening until around midnight. I even had family visit and I didn't even know it was happening. I was very out of it.

Every time I tried to get up, I fainted and felt nauseous, but it would pass if I laid back down for a bit. After breakfast this morning and the right dose of pain meds, I started to feel really well. I could walk and I didn't feel nauseous anymore.

The doctor said the surgery went very well. I had really nice nurses and it all went very well.

I'm home in bed right now. I feel a little sick if I take my meds and don't eat enough, but I'm not very hungry, so sometimes I don't eat enough. I feel a little bloat-y and sore, but, all things considered, I think I'm feeling great.

I hope everyone else is doing well. All you 9/9/11ers have been on my mind and in my prayers. Take care, all!
