I'm so glad for this site....

Everytime I have a question or think I might have some kind of post-op problem, I always can find an answer on this site! You gals are all so wonderful - thanks for sharing!

I had a touch of cabin fever yesterday and had to get out and see the Christmas decorations in a couple stores (how's that for an excuse? lol). I felt really good yesterday and didn't think I was overdoing it. (Tomorrow is 2 weeks post-op, TVH,BSO). We went to 2 stores and had lunch and I spent the rest of the day on the couch. This morning I went for my walk (up to over 1/2 mile, which sure doesn't sound like much), but am feeling tired now. I'm beginning to feel like a SLUG , though, because there is so much I should be doing to get ready for my company (both daughters and their families are visiting for Christmas) and I run out of energy and Hubs keeps nagging me to go visit my couch.

So, I guess my question is: How do we keep ourselves from "overdoing" it on the days we feel really really good?

Happy holidays, everyone!

Hi Jozzie, You ask a tough question that many of us have struggled with. Boredom and guilt over stuff not done seems to be the biggest culprit for over doing it that I've read about. You are going to have to just let your family jump in and take over. You can sit and make lists, and be the director, but let them do for you. They will probably be very happy to do so. Keep reminding yourself that if you over do it too much, your time will be spent in bed, resting up from over doing it, instead of with you family. Believe me, they will understand. I bet your daughters will be happy to jump in and help out, especially if you let them know exactly what you aren't up to doing. (Also, this came up at Thanksgiving, if you are having a large turkey, these are very heavy and awkward. Let someone else lift it everywhere it needs to go.) Good luck and take care, and be a good princess.

Jozzie - you sound just like me. I'm going crazy! I've heard about the three week wall - but I think there is a two week wall too. You feel so much better, but still can't really do anything and the boredom sets in. If you do too much, the pain sets in! I know what you mean about feeling like a slug. I've been writing thank you notes, working on an embroidery project, reading, (I hate to admit it but watching soaps), and working on Christmas Shopping lists for my husband. But it still isn't the same. You're lucky to be able to get out for at least a little bit. Most of my friends work during the day so I'm stuck in prison (home!).

Anyway, just wanted you to know that you are definately NOT ALONE!
