4 wks. post-op Night Sweats?

On Nov. 12, the doctor did a TVH and drained a cyst on my ovary for me. I have been be-bopping along just fine until now. Depression has left me in tears and I wake up at night with the back of my hair damp and the shoulders of my nightshirt damp as well. Is this a power surge or a hot flash? Have any of you experienced this when you still have both of your ovaries?

Yes, I have but I waited for the symptoms to escalate and for some months to go by before realising that my ovaries were NOT going to kick back in. It's not long since you had your surgery and will take a while for the ovaries to get over the shock of that. I'd say that you tried to ovulate maybe and there wasn't enough estrogen produced, hence the night sweats/depression. So perhaps you could try something like Balck Cohosh to get you through these symptoms, but I'd discuss it with your doctor.
You need to give it time, some months before they get their act together. This doesn't happen to everyone but for some it does Don't worry though, I'm sure it will be fine. How old are you, do you mind me asking? It may have a bearing on how those ovaries respond to surgery. If you were perimenopausal or close to it before surgery then the chances of sputtering ovaries is greater. However even then it's preferable to keep them. It's easier to supplement than start from scratch.
Hang in there, it will get better, I promise

Hi Susie, I had a BSO so can't be of much help. Here is an article that tells you how to see if your ovaries are still working. http://www.hormonejungle.com/work.php

The only time I had night sweats was the first few weeks after surgery. So some of your problems may just be part of recovery. Hopefully your ovaries will kick in here soon.
