It was no big deal!

Just thought I would let everyone know how I am doing. Well, here is how it went....

No food for two days... I was feeling weak when I checked in the Hospital at 12:00 on 12/11/01. Had a MAJOR headache from not eating. DH was so wonderful, he rubbed my head and got me a cool rag. They stuck me three times trying to get my IV going.

I became a little nauseous and they gave me some zantac in my IV and wheeled me down the hall. All I remember saying was that they were going to give me something to make me not care.... I was out! This was about 2:30 ish.

I woke up and began remembering around 8:00pm as they put me in my room. They said for me to remember next time that I had a VERY difficult time with intubations. I can tell, my throat and tongue are torn up!!! I guess I fought it!

The surgery took longer than expected and I lost a little more blood than he thought I should have. I had endometriosis wrapped around my bowels and bladder badly. My uterus was the size of a 3-4 mo pregnancy and the fibroid was bigger than he thought. He tried a new procedure on my bladder (TVT?) with titanium screws and said he had a hard time with the new method. BUT, over all everything went VERY well...

I am so surprised that I am feeling GREAT!!! I am even upstairs on the computer and have very little pain. (Walked up here all by myself and it did not even hurt!) The most pain I have is when I eat, it hurts my stomach. I guess from it getting moved around so much.

My DH has been better than anyone could have imagined. He has been by my side and waited on me hand and foot. He has made me take my medicine and helped me get dressed. Even helped with all the yucky stuff with only saying how much he loved me. (He even held the tub when I threw up... now THAT is love!!!).

The kids have been great and I am doing so much better than I ever thought. Your prayers worked!

I will keep in touch. My next dr. appt is Tuesday to get my stitches out.

Take care and I sure thank all of you for making my trip to the castle a "no hassle" experience!!!

It was no big deal!

Welcome home!!!

I'm so glad that you had a good hospital experience...OUCH about the intubation, though!

A gentle reminder...you are feeling good mostly due to the wonders of residual anesthesia...don't make the mistake of thinking that you are healed. You've got hundreds of internal stitches and lots of stuff that has to heal...so be a good princess, rest rest rest, drink LOTS of fluids, and walk a little bit around the house. Remember that sitting is an activity, and don't overdo your computer time.

Slow and easy is the way to go...especially since you have such a great support system in your family. Let them pamper you, and your recovery will go as smoothly as your surgery did.

to you, !!!

Karen

It was no big deal!

Welcome home Tammy. I agree with Karen...take it SLOW and EASY.

REST, REST, REST....the more you're up and about the more inflammation and pain you'll have.

Here is someone else saying

PLEASE REST!! I too felt so good that I was overdoing things and didn't know it, it seems to pop up when you least expect it to. I also found out you can form addhesions from too much moving, bend, lifting etc. in the early weeks. that is why it is so important for you to be the pampered now. Your DH seems so wonderful so let him pamper and the kids. So girl listen to the pillow and and then do it some more. God Bless s for now and later.

It was no big deal!

Tammy,

It is good to hear that you are home and doing well. Sounds like you have a absolutely wonderful DH

I also had the TVT procedure done for my bladder, but mine wasn't done with any screws. The tension-free tape was stitched into place with my surgery. I hadn't ever heard of it being done with screws.

Wishing you the very best with your continued recovery.
