3 Months Later...

Hello HysterSisters,

I had a complete hysterectomy in July. I had a few minor problems with bleeding and swelling at first but then seemed to recover just fine. At 6 weeks the bleeding came back and my doctor told me that I had a small area that wasn't healed. He performed a procedure in his office (cauterization) and everything seemed to get better again. Well.... now 12 weeks later I have started swelling in my lower abdomen around where the incision is. I have also gained 10 pounds in a matter of about 2 weeks. It seems like I am retaining fluid. I have had some pain as well. After intercourse a few days ago I noticed a very small amount of blood. Although I didn't feel any pain... it was very uncomfortable. I called my doctor's nurse and she scheduled me for another appointment. I am starting to get very frustrated with all of this. I am also wondering if the Enjuvia (HRT) pills may be causing fluid retention. Sometimes I notice swelling (fliud retention) in my hands and feet. Please comment if you have had similar problems or advice for me. Thank you!

Re: 3 Months Later...

I had my TVH and bladder lift done in August and I am also still experiencing swelling inside after sex and swelly belly at night. i also seem to retain water more easily and feel I can't fit into most of my clothes. I also have trouble getting the urine flow started sometimes, especially after sex. I haven't had any bleeding since the initial post surgery bleeding stopped, that definitely sounds like something to be concerned about. I think from what I've read the swelling and uncomfortable sex is all normal and to be expected for a long time, it takes up to a year to get back to normal. Good luck to you!
