My Encouraging Story

Just wanted to post this as an encouragement for anyone facing the laproscopic surgery. I am one year out from my surgery. It could not have gone better. There were no complications at any point. I was back to full exercising within the time promised by my dr (don't remember now the exact time - 3 weeks? 6 weeks?). I started a new job less than 2 weeks afterwards. I had no spotting. My only longer-term symptom was a pulling-type feeling where my uterus would have been, but it was gone after a few months. Now, every few months I have a momentary pulling-type feeling and then it passes. I was in daily pain and had severe fatigue in the last 2 months before my surgery, so I can say that this was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was initially an emotional decision. Although I didn't want children, I still had to accept that I could never change my mind about having kids. Not only would the surgery make it permanent, but doctors advised me that the fibroids would make my chance of carrying a child full term slim. I had to face this reality, and I grieved the loss of the right to change my mind about kids. Once past that, and having such a great experience, I wish that I could have done this a long time ago. It's so wonderful to feel healthy and not have a yucky period and cramps every month. I hope you too have a wonderful experience when all is said and done. Blessings!
