Anemia: So Confused
After multiple blood test showed anemia I was sent by my family dr for an ultrasound, where they discovered an enlarged uterus, fibroid tumor, and some thickening of the endometrial lining. I then was referred to an ob/gyn, who said I had several options and it depended how aggressive I wanted him to be but he would recommend a hysterectomy, I went to another ob/gyn who is also a friend of the family and he said he would try novasure (EA) first.
Due to the anemia I have been suffering, very dizzy spells, fatigue, leg cramps, and everything else that goes along with it, alot heavier bleeding than it use to be back in the day. Any Suggestions??

Re: So Confused
Sound very familiar. Anemia, fibroids, adenomyosis. I considered ablation, but I'm not a good candidate. IUD with contraceptive hormones also not for me. So, what's left? Hysterectomy. If it means no more suffering, so be it. There are options tho. Maybe one of them is right for you. Talk to your doctor. Get a 2nd opinion. You'll find lots of info here too. Best of luck to you!

Re: So Confused
Get on iron to get rid of the tired, brain fog thing.
My hyster is scheduled for December, mostly because that's quarter break and I'm a full time student. It will probably take nearly that long to deal with the insurance anyway.
After reading a lot on the boards here, I keep having new questions to ask my surgeon. If I can have a less invasive procedure I would like to. At this point, I'm scheduled for a sonohistogram, where they put water in you to get better imaging. We are trying to determine how deep the fibroids are embedded in my uterine wall. Too deep and an ablation with D&C is unlikely to be successful. Hopefully, the surgeon will get enough detail to help me decide what to do.
I know that even if they can do the ablation it may not last since I have quite a few years until menopause but if most of that time is problem free then I'm ok with that. If they can't do the ablation then that's ok too. I just don't want to have a hyster then find out that I could have done something less drastic.
Continue to ask questions until you feel you have a grip on what is going on with your body and what your options are.

Re: So Confused
Thanks for your input, after much thought/prayer/research I have decided hysterectomy is the best decision for me. Of course nervous but also looking forward to feeling like me again.
