6 weeks post op

I wanted to share my story. I have had fibroids in my uterus for quite some time, but doctor said since they were not causing a problem to leave it alone. 2 years ago, my pap came back with hpv, so here we go paps every 6 months. This past January, it came back with mild dysphasia and a leep procedure was done. In April first pap after leep, still mild dysphasia. Another 3 months before another pap. The second pap was done July 21st, a week later I got a call that it was still the same and to come in for a consultation. I had been asking for the hysterectomy for over a year but he wantedd to do all he could. There was no question with either of us that it was time for a hysterectomy. I turned 55 the day after surgery. They did laporscopic with assisted vagainal (in other words they cut uterus and cervix loose and pushed them out through my vagina). They kept me in the hospital overnight, but really I could have gone home. I had no pain, just soreness in my stomach. Over the 6 weeks I couldn't lift anything and had to take it easy. Took most of my energy away, slept a lot, but. I went back to work after 3 weeks part time. This Monday, Nov. 7th I will be back full time. During the 6 weeks I have had spotting but nothing terrible. She did tell me I had stitches inside of me. I have gotten along great from the surgery and am doing well. I just had my thyroid tested again and that is low (below the normal level, I am hypo so it has gone in the opposite direction). So my tiredness is not due to the hysterectomy but my thyroid. Don't hesititate if you are thinking about having this done or your doctor says you need it.
