Total hysterectomy done on 10/24/11

This has changed my life. I have an awesome OB/GYN. She gave me the hystersisters booklet to research for myself. She gave me clear information on all of my other options, but I already had my mind made up that I wanted the hysterectomy, dealing with painful periods, tons of unsuccessful birth control method, lack of energy due to pain, taking narcotics 3 weeks out of month just to be able to function, but in turn made me constipated and made both my IBS and Sciatic nerve worse. I couldnt take it anymore. My only concern at the age of 35 was losing my sex drive because of it. My doctor said 95% of her patients enjoyed sex more after total hysterectomy. She stated ovaries are almost never taken out unless cancer or fibroids cysts make it a must. The ovaries have the hormones and and orgasm is generated by clitoris or Gspot which is in the Vagina. Do to history of cervical cancer and fibroids in my family history I removed the cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes and kept my ovaries to avoid possible future cervical cancer. I trusted my Doctor. Dr. Elaine Chang in Des Moines, WA. It has been just a week and I am not even fully recovered but my pain level went from a 10 to a 2. The 2 is just the healing of the incisions. I feel like a brand new woman, a much better mom
and I have a new lease on life. This was one of the best decisions I ever made for myself and have no regrets. I thank God for Modern Medicine as my Quality of life is better and getting better by the day. I am back work part time a week after surgery because I am stronger now then I was before the surgery. I feel blessed and Thankful.
