Dandy LilLady,
Do you think your symptoms can be from just having gone thru major surgery and the emotional side of doing so? That's what I think I have had, although mine have been minimal. From what I have read, if after having a hyster - your ovaries continue to produce estrogen and continue to ovulate. Seeing as if you are having some major issues with it, maybe the Premarin will help kick start things back into normalcy. Have you stopped taking any other meds that may have the same effect? I have not taken Premarin, so it's hard for me to say take it. Maybe look into a holistic method!? Good luck and best wishes for the symptoms to leave you soon!!!

Thanks to all of you in letting me know my issues with bm was nothing unique. I felt so much better! After some warm prune/apple juice, I'm finally feeling better. No pain meds to help me sleep last nite. I was told percocet can cause constipation so it's GONE! Today, I wouldnt say I'm in pain, but I took a couple of Tylenol. Every where I touched it. The Tylenol helped alot. I hope everyone else is finding great support and information on this website! I am and thanks to all of you!

I am officially 1 week post-op YAY!

When I think about the way I was feeling exactly one week ago, I am proud of how far I have come.

I am proud that I have stayed comfortable and not broken any of the rules that were set upon me.

I have remained at home, not driven a car, picked up anything over 5lbs and have made sure to start the weaning process of the narcotics. Though in a recent post of mine, I expressed that today I felt like I had the flu- but with no fever, I am convinced that it is withdrawal symptoms to percocet.

So now what.? My incision site is still uncomfortable. I don't recall any directions for the skin glue, leave it on peel it off. My belly button has dried blood under the skin glue and it is driving me nuts. Any suggestions?

I have started to rub my belly- feels SO strange. Like it hurts, but it doesn't.

I have noticed that I cry when I laugh, I can't say it hurts to laugh but is definitely uncomfortable and funny feeling.

I am still struggling with BM and emptying my bladder completely which concerns me- I think I should have listened to my DR when he told me take heaping tablespoons of Metamucil a couple times a day. So off to the store tomorrow. Any Suggestions or TIPS?

I think that is about it. Other than being bored out of my mind I am doing rather well! I am going to start doing puzzles to keep my mind off life.

My husband, though tired, is just amazing. He is doing the best he can with our daughters- with carpool, girl scouts, packing lunches, helping with housework. He's had a couple meltdowns but I felt like he would, so I had my girlfriends on speed text and immediately shooed them to a friends til after dinner. Man what a difference it made for everyone. I know he is doing the best he can and to me that is all that matters. How are your SO or DH handling this?

I have noticed that I am very emotional and have been experiencing HOT and very COLD flashes. I read on another post that the remaining Ovary can go into sleep mode for a while, so I should remember to ask the DR that tomorrow when I talk to him. To those who have one ovary, Have you felt the same?

My daughters have been so great through this. Don't get me wrong, when they are home there is never a quiet moment, but I am proud of how they are handling this. I can't wait for some much needed mother daughter time when this is over. How are your little ones handing you being unavailable or in bed?

So Sisters what are you proud of?
Whatever you do dont pull off the glue! The cuts will open up. My dr said to just let it wear off it self.

Can I ask when you say that you thought it would be like recovering from your c-section but it's not...what do you mean? I've seen some of my sisters recover from having c-sections and they never seemed to have such a hard time recovering like I am. I've been feeling bad because of it and now saw your post about it so I was hoping you could tell me how it's different. Thank you so much.

oh the difference is night and day! The pain from my hysterectomy has been so,so,so, much worse! It has been awful! I woke up in the recovery room screaming in pain. After my c- section it hurt but it was nothing like this! Don't feel bad because you are in pain. It is real and it hurts! Tell everyone they need to take care of you! :-) I wish you speedy healing!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Nov 07-Nov 13,2011

Today is day 7 since my TAH. I am doing great except for the horrible welty rash surrounding my incision and on both my thighs. I'm going in to the doctor tomorrow so he can see it and figure out what the heck is causing this horrific allergic reaction. I'm off pain pills and just so happy at how easy my recovery has been. I think it is because I have the luxury of being able to sleep all day if I need to and having a family that is really catering to me. Plus the pain I was in before with my volleyball sized uterus was so bad for so long, this feels like nothing. I still do not feel the need to pee but I just go and sit. That's weird but I'm not complaining! The pain in the back of my calf was not a blood clot, thank goodness. It was just muscle pain. My ultrasound was fine. Oh and I had my first BM at day 5. I had been so terrified of it but it really wasn't THAT bad. I had milk of magnesia at midnight and it happened at 6 am. I recommend that. I love the support of this site!

And for ME, the recovery from both C-sections was much harder than from my hyster ... so it just goes to show, yet again, how different we all are. I've found this recovery pretty easy - I get pulled up by my body every so often for trying to do too much, whereas after my caesars I really wasn't physically capable to try to do too much!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Nov 07-Nov 13,2011

Surgery was a week tomorrow. Am feeling great, took 2 ovaries, 1 uterus, 1 large mass 13.3 x 9.5 cm with a 3cm solid mass inside, endo I didn't know I even had, moved everything back into it's proper place and BONUS, a Bladder Sling. Was able to do by lap (da vinci)... just barely. Stayed two nights in hospital, left with a cath which was just removed today. Never felt so happy to pee in my life. Energy is back, no pain meds since 1 on Monday. Walking, doing as much around the house as possible. This is so much easier recovery than the shattered ankle I had 4 years ago when I couldn't put weight on my foot for 3 months and had a 6 month recovery.

Jump forward to this afternoon 11-17-11...And, then there was the pathology... I am saying that I HAD cancer, as my surgeon really thinks that the procedure got it all. However, I will be having another surgery, probably in about 10 days - (have to wait to get over my sinus infection first)- with the traditional long hysterectomy scar. They will be taking the omentum and the lymph nodes by the pelvis to make sure.

Keep the faith and a positive attitude... I have much to do before the next one. Now I have a much better idea about what to expect, etc with the hospital.

Hey Hun ,
I'm taking a bowel softener to help with bm, was advised no laxatives but bowel softeners help. I came over shivery last night and my temperature had soared, so had to go back to hospital and now on antibiotics for an infection. Have you taken your temperature ?
Good luck and hope all is well for you
