LAVH Post Op LAVH BSO Six Week Check Up Not so good

Went to the doctor today for my six week check up....I have post op surgical infection. I did everything right before, during and after my LAVH with BSO and I still got an infection. Have two antibiotics and must report back in two weeks. This is so disappointing to me. At least the doctor did say that it is not my fault...this sort of thing can happen. I am sure I will get better but this was totally unexpected news. Thanks.

Keep your chin up, you only heal right once. I know in the beginning time drags but you'll get through it. Hugs

My abdominal incision was red and swollen which I had been putting neosporin on it but when the doctor performed the vaginal examination she said very quickly Oh no you have an infection. When she saw my incision and did the vaginal examination she did a wet prep and saw what was going on and advised I do an antibiotic and vaginal suppository to get rid of the infection. I did everything I was suppose to and still ended up with a post op surgical infection. The doctor said it was not my fault but I feel like a failure anyway since I found out...I mean how could this happen to me, right. Symptoms I was unaware of were pain at the incision site, vaginal discharge oder and cramping. The discharge paper I recieved when I left the hospital only detailed, no bowel movement and vaginal bleeding...it mentioned nothing about the symptoms I have had and I even researched my symptoms and they all seemed common among women who underwent a hystercectomy. thank you so much...I know I will beat the infection but it is hard to feel like a million bucks with the exception of some symptoms that appeared to be all too common, only to find out I have a post surgical infection. I agree it is hard to know what are normal recovery symptoms and signs of infection. I have issues with my incision and have twice got an opinion on it. It really worries me that it will become infected, but so far have been told it is ok. It would be hard to know what is normal vaginal discharge as it seems to vary greatly. I'm sure everything will clear up for you now you have the antibiotics.
