post-op sleepy

Ladies, I had TLH/BSO on Wed AM - rested comfortably in the hospital and figured I would continue to be up/down at home. Welllll... today I have been down... and down... and down... just so sleepy I can hardly hold my head up!

I woke up probably 5 times during the night to pee... and then since 6am (when hubby got up) probably have slept the majority of time since then... up for a few minutes to eat/drink/pee, then back to sleep. Not rest, but actually full-on SLEEP.

Is this normal?

Re: post-op sleepy

Some ladies react like that after this surgery. The surgery takes a lot out of your body in terms of energy and your body is trying to recoup and heal. It does that by making you sleepy. It will take some time before you don't feel so tired.

Re: post-op sleepy

Sounds great - your body must be busy healing. A lot if people have trouble sleeping, so I think you are lucky.

Re: post-op sleepy

Glad you are getting some sleep; as well as all of it making you tired (all of it being surgery, anesthesia etc) some of the meds can as well. I've noticed I'm getting sleepier rather than less sleepier but that up and down so many times during the night can add to that also. Hope the sleepyness eases soon

SozoSister

Hey - me too! I was really 'up' at the hospital the first day post op. The second day not so much and figured that was due to the spinal block wearing off. Today I crashed on the couch for the majority of the day and it felt pretty good but it's past midnight and I'm still awake. Just figure it's all part of the process.

Re: post-op sleepy

Wow - glad this is normal. In the castle I'd drift off, but was mostly awake. Here at home I'm mostly asleep, I think I slept 20 out of 24 hours yesterday!!
