Gallbladder surgery

I just had my gallbladder removed 11-days ago. I am 2 years post from my hysterectomy (total hyst. vaginal/laparascopic) I had my gallbladder removed laparascopically too. I would like to talk with others about their recovery and is there a high incidence of people who have had a hysterectomy who also have to have their gallbladders out afterwards?

Re: Gallbladder surgery

I've had both but in the opposite order. I had my gall bladder removed 9 years ago and I had my hysterectomy 4 weeks ago.

Re: Gallbladder surgery

Hi ladies! I just had my hysterectomy last month, but one of the tests I requested beforehand was an abdominal and pelvic sonogram, because I was convinced my issues/discomforts weren't all about gyn issues, and I was right!

I am 55 and apparently have a polyp and a .7cm stone inside my gall bladder. Doctors said since I don't have much pain, there is no need to put a rush on treating the gallstone, so it is still with me.

I googled and discovered that premenopausal women often get gallstones, and when I read the list of other possible factors, I met most of them so it is no surprise to me that I may, at some point in the future, need surgery to fix that issue. Forewarned is forearmed, so maybe by the time I actually NEED to have another procedure, it will be quick and easy.

I'm permanently on coumadin, so it is a real pain to prep for and return to normal after any surgical procedure. I was really tempted to see if anyone would be willing to do both on the same day, but am SOOOO glad it wasn't even on the table. This recovery is plenty to deal with, thanks!

Then a couple years after that i had my gallbladder out, NOW i have been diagnosed with sjogren's disease, and it has been reaking havoc on my poor body..anyone else have any of this? I hope not, but if you do , my sympathy to you..LOL

Re: Gallbladder surgery

I had my gallbladder removed in Jan of 11 and my hysterectomy in July of 11. Both were lap surgeries and to be honest I had a difficult time with the gallbladder surgery. My hysterectomy was a breeze in comparison

Re: Gallbladder surgery

I had my Davinci Hyster on Oct 18 and Lapro gall bladder on dec 6th. Having them so close together was hard...
I did fine with the hyster but the gall bladder surgery kicked my bum. It I still get tired very easy.
If it was not such a needed operation I would have waited a little more before having the gall bladder out. I still have one lapro in cession that is not healing well.
So how are you feeling now?

Re: Gallbladder surgery

Mine was opposite order where my gallbladder was removed about 16 years ago and then the hyst 2 1/2 years ago. I also have had problems with bile ducts but I also have Crohn's so that may be part of the problem.

Re: Gallbladder surgery

I had uterine cancer and complete hysto by Davinchi in 2009 - gall bladder removed last year - doc says it was die to lack of or no hormones to keep fluid level in gall bladder correct - therefore gallbladder produces stones and ceases to be effective.....
back on treadmill trying to loose weight now some 6 month after - but havng probs with pain wher uterus and ovaries where can only assume is because i am using muscles that have not been used in an awful long time?? any one else with similair?? keep smiling peeps xoxox
