Do "things" shrink after a hyst.?

Hey ladies, sorry to be graphic but heres one for ya. I'm 43 years old and had a TAH/BSO ten weeks ago today! I've had a very smooth recovery, minor setbacks along the way, but feeling better than I have in years!!Now, heres my problem. Dr. gave the ok for lovin at the 7 week point. Things were fine, in fact, they were wonderful! Of course we took things very slow, but I can honestly say that we had no problems in that area until now. The problem is, since last week it seems that things have started getting smaller and smaller, and very dry, we didn't even have to use lubricant until last week! Now, I didn't have this problem at all until about 8 days ago! Now it seems that the clitoris has shrunk into almost nothing!! The big "O" is still there, but almost not worth the the time and effort!! Is this normal?? Also the skin texture in that area seems to be different! And now I have this itch that is driving me absolutely crazy. At first I thought that I just had a yeast infection, but there is no discharge at all, and every one I've had before was accompanied by a discharge. HELP me ladies!!! Could it be that my vivelle 0.1 isn't working anymore? I hope this isn't the case because I love my dot! I'm not having any of the symptoms that I had prior to my surgery, no hot flashes, no PMS, no emotional swings like before.
I'm about at the end of my rope with this one. Does this sound like a hormonal thing to you all????

Anyway, thanks for lettin me vent, trying to figure out how to talk to Dr. right now, when we are face to face on Monday. It's hard enought just writing it down! Thank God I don't have to look any of you in the eye! LOL

Yep Susan it does sound hormonal. Many of us in the jungle, myself included need the addition of vaginal estrogen along with their regular HRT for vaginal health. Your symptoms sound just like mine before I added the vaginal estrogen. I would bring this up to your doc and see if he/she thinks and see if maybe some vaginal estrogen might benefit you S

Do "things" shrink after a hyst.?

Thanks Brenda for answering so quickly! It just seems like it's one thing after another here at the 10 week mark. I was soooo hoping that this HRT was THE only thing I would need. I guess it was too good to be true. But, besides all of this, I'm still glad to be rid of the constant pain and bleeding that I had before the op. I guess I'll just come and hang out here in the jungle with you ladies until I get this figured out!!

Now, if I can get up the nerve to talk to my dr. as easily as I can talk to you ladies, I think I'll get some answers come Monday. Maybe I'll just cover my face when I talk to her! LOL, this stuff is so hard for me to talk about!! But, I've got to get some help !!
Say a prayer for me on Monday! Thanks again!

Susan you will not need to change your HRT. You can remain on the same thing, you will just be adding the vaginal estrogen to the mix

Do "things" shrink after a hyst.?

Brenda are you saying that I will probably get to stay on my patch? The Dr. can just add something else to go with it, right? Boy that's a relief! this patch is the best thing. I'd hate to go messing with something that's working, but this other problem, are you tellin me that it's not a lost cause?
Thanks for your help!

Yep there is most certainly hope You will not need to give up your patch. This is something that is additional to your regular HRT. The vaginal area has many estrogen receptors and sometimes regular HRT doesnt supply enough for that area so you have to add some additional but only for that area.
For me, once the vaginal estrogen was added the wetness, sensitivity and strong orgasms all came back

Hi ladies...
I have been where you're at. I still struggle with it. I had vaginal itching, burning and soreness so bad that it kept me awake at night. It took a very long time to get relief as it took lots of playing with different thigs to get balanced. I am now getting 15mg IM shots of delestrogen every two weeks (no other form of estrogen was working for me and I tried just about everything), 2 grams of estrace vaginal cream 3 times and week and 2% testosterone cream 3 times applied to inside of my thighs. Between all of these things the itching and soreness is much better. If I skip doses of the creams then I am sore and itchy again. You may have to experiment with different things to get the right balance. The estrogen cream or vagifem vaginal tablets that supply estrogen right into the vagina are probably what will help you the most. I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you're feeling better very soon. Don't give up!!
