It depends on your situation, like how old you are, why you had surgery, etc. As for me, I'm 34 and am not on hormones yet, either. My doctor told me the same thing, and I have the same concerns. But, I had my hyst due to stage 4 endometriosis, so it may be a good idea for me to wait, since estrogen feeds endo. Also, my dr said that HRT can sometimes thin the blood, and since my surgery ended up being a lot more invasive than planned, he wanted to wait on HRT for now. So far, I have not had any signs of menopause. Makes me wonder if my ovaries were working before surgery or not. I heard part of my pathology report this afternoon. The average ovary is 2.5-3 grams..... My left ovary weighed in at 67 grams, my right was 90 grams. They were stretched by massive endometriomas. I vaguely remember having hot flashes last year.......

Had Davinci surgery the 15th, home now and doing well. I am dealing with issues similar to others that I've seen posted. Happy to be done with surgery, and looking forward to recovery. Having trouble sleeping through the night and dealing with lower back pain - but I'll accept that for the longer term positives I hope are coming. Speedy recovery to all my fellow sisters - very good site full of information and support.

i had an LAVH on the 15th. Had everything removed. My Dr. put me on the Vivelle-Dot patch the morning after surgery. We had discussed this previous to surgery. I am 52 and had been in perimenapause.

Today is Day 5 since my surgery (LSH) and I haven't felt good all day. I didn't sleep well last night and have been gassy all day. Kinda disappointing because early on I felt pretty good and figured by now I'd be better than this.

Today is a hard day. Things had been going quite well, but today I feel really yucky. It isn't pain, as much as nausia and weakness. Even the bad headache is gone today.

I had LSH/LSO last Wednesday(12/14), due to Endometriosis/fibroids /adhesions/emdomtrioma on my left ovary. The surgery took 3.5 hours because my fibroids were calcified and broke some of the tools. I had low blood pressure at first, but was able to come home after a night in the hospital. This pain has been very manageable. So much less pain than I was having before surgery.

Hope I feel better tomorrow. I tried to do some work from home this morning, but that was probably a mistake. I work for myself, so no work means no income. Hard to take so much time off.

I also had a bad day. Trouble getting a deep breath, tired. Hope tomorrow is better. I guessing was feeling too good.

I would talk to my Dr. about why no horomones. I kept my right ovary and I'm hoping it will work for awhile. I know I should not take horomones unless absolutely necessary because I am braca1 positive, meaning I have the gene for breast and ovarian cancers. My Dr. told me if he took both ovaries I would probably have to be on horomones and we were trying to avoid that.

I hope you are feeling better today.

I am also on the vivelle dot .05mg, changing 2 times a week. I am 50 and I think I also, started perimenopause. My doctor takes the same patch. We will see how it goes.

It'll only for for about 2.5 days, so it shouldn't be too bad, and they'll be back in time for Christmas. It's sad it had to happen right now. I can get my parents to help my husband (we all come from the same area). I'll be alright--I'm well enough to make my own meals, and I'll get someone to keep me company a bit each day. And there's always the Sisters! Stay with me ladies, and we'll all get through this.
ZinnyLinny, I am so sorry about your mother in law. Why do troubles seem to come in clusters? But with your good attitude and support from all of us I sure hope you will be Ok. thinking of you!
