Red face - Two weeks post op from TLH Two weeks post op from TLH

Hello There,

I am 2 weeks post op today. Surgery went as planned, and I was out of the hospital the next evening. I did develope a complication following surgery tho. The following day ( day 3) I started to develope a bad pain ( 10 out of 10) in the left upper part of my abdomen. I had thought it was gas so I walked and walked, used a heating pad.. with no relief. I was also no longer passin gas and wasnt moving my bowels. I had DH bring me back to the hospital ER first thing day 4 AM,, given Dilaudid for the pain.. with NO releif. They sent me home, stating i "was constipated". I spend another week in total agony..eating fruits, foods high in fiber.. then started Vominting after eating. Well, this past weekend I was admitted to a different hospital with an Ilieus. A portion of my bowel never "woke up" so nothing was happening. No bowel sounds.. nothing. The Vicodin I was sent home post op was also keeping the bowels sluggish. Spent 3 days in the hospital.. It seems to have been fixed- all working fine now.. Now I am trying to get back to normal.. still EXHAUSTED just getting dressed in the morning,, but glad to be without pain.
Don't assume the ER always knows whats going on.. I would have been so much furthur in my recovery had it been taken care of day 3.
I hope this info helps ladies.. Good luck Princesses!
