Bladder and Bowel Cramping
Does anyone else have cramping and pain with gas when it is time to use the bathroom. I am 13 days post op and everything seemed to be working until about yesterday. First the bowels didn't want to work, then they worked overtime, but now I just seem so full of gas, it hurts to the point, where I almost have to tip toe instead of walking in order to get rid of it. Is this normal???
I am trying not to over do it, and have been resting when needed, but this gas hurts soooo bad. HELP!!!!

Bladder and Bowel Cramping
I'm 15 days out of the "castle", and having the same problem. I will be looking for answers, along with you. I started using digestive enzymes when I eat, and it seems to be helping a bit (when I remember!!) The gas pains really just about double you up, don't they?

Re: Angel101
ouch!!!! ME too!!! Now 3 weeks post and it does get better. Mylanta Gas pills during the day helped with the bloating and gas pain. Milk of Magnesia was a god send for the constipation...just 2 tbl. at bedtime and it really made the next day easier
 .
This too shall pass!

Bladder and Bowel Cramping
Hi Angel
I am 12 days post op with same gas pains which feel like labor pains.
Someone on here suggested peppermint tea which I have been drinking for the past 2 days now and i'm also drinking small glass of prune juice every a.m. to help things along...And a very bland diet you'll know what u can or can not eat. Yesterday that gas was finally flying and havent had my labor pain in 24 hours now the first time since i got home :jumping:
If you see any suggestions form our sisters on here take them one of them is bound to work for you.. I'll take any suggestions to get rid of these pains......So watch what u eat and a lot lf liquids.....
Good Luck and remembery your not alone in this thing theres a lot of us out here to listen and understand what you are going through.

Bladder and Bowel Cramping
I drink a glass of juice with a teaspoon of generic Metamucil mixed in as soon as I get up (this is something I've been doing for months) and have never had a problem. This is something that my doctor told me to do for better colon health.

Bladder and Bowel Cramping
Hello Ladies,
I am at six weeks post OP. Last week I realized I was no longer having the cramping. So remeber that this to will pass. I used Fibercon Tablets for gentle regularity. It was suggested to me to stay away from carbonated drinks. Walking also helped my system to function. And Drink Drink Drink lot's of water.

Gas pains
I've found out walking helps and started the Metamucil yesterday too. I've always been one to eat high fiber breakfasts to stay regular--but always did get lots of gas even before surgery. So I'm leary now of going back to my Kashi or granola because although I know things need to "move along" the gas pains are still BAD when they come around.
Happy indeed to hear this too gets better again with time. I should hope so!

Bladder and Bowel Cramping
I've been taking extra strength "Gas-X" and "Colace" and that has helped tremendously in relieving the gas problems. I took the "Gas-X" after every meal and before I went to bed, took "Colace" two to three times a day at first, now I'm taking it at bedtime. My tummy no longer sounds like a drum when I tap it. Pain medication makes me sleepy, the more I slept, the more gas I seemed to have. If you're still taking pain meds, you might try foregoing it and see if you have less gas. Walking helps too.

re: gas
Well, I'm trying different meds for the pain, and really most of the time I'm ok without. I stopped the Tylenol 3 after about 4 days out of the Castle, since it definitely constipates me and makes me a little nauseous too.
